THE WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE ...
Entrusting my Porsche to Dieter's Motorsports of San Diego was the single biggest mistake in my life. The entire saga is a nightmare during which the car spent 7 months in their shop, most of it sitting there gathering dust while they told me it would be ready "any day." During that time I got the car back twice, only to find they'd screwed something up and it had to go back within a few days.

After the first visit they acknowledged (in writing) liability for some body damage, but now more than 18 months later, they and their insurance company won't even take responsibility for that!

But that's not the main issue: I am convinced that through their own willful negligence, they caused a catastrophic engine failure which, by their own estimate, would require more than $11,000 in repairs. Not to mention my actual out-of-pocket costs or time or emotional distress (or even my safety, which they jeopardized), clearly worth many thousands more.

Along the way I've been negotiated against by AAA Approved Auto Repair - which certifies Dieter's - to the point of abuse. The program "sounds" good, but I'd say in my case it was a waste of my time and money. I was led to believe I was working with a neutral mediator, but became convinced they were more of an advocate for Dieter's: some of their policies actually prevented our reaching a satisfactory mediated settlement.

And don't even get me started with the deceptive and manipulative business practices of their insurer, Farmer's Commercial Insurance. Their "forensic engineer's" report was a sham: he couldn't even be bothered to view the damage before writing his report.

Along the way AAA Approved Auto Repair - which certifies Dieter's shop - got involved to "mediate." The program "sounds" good, but I'd say in my case it was a waste of my time and money. I was led to believe I was working with a neutral mediator, but became convinced they were more of an advocate for Dieter's: some of their policies actually prevented our reaching a satisfactory mediated settlement.

Then there's Farmer's Commercial Insurance and their so-called "forensic inspector" who never even viewed the damage before writing a report to let his clients off the hook ... what a sham!

Unfortunately there's just not enough room to tell the whole story here. I've started my own website to protect others from this shop and their co-conspirators. Just look for "porsche-bmw-service-sandiego" to find it.
