Complaint Review: Digital 1 Media

I got a call from my father a couple of days ago (he lives in British Columbia). He told me he had just gotten a call from a media company in Fort Lauderdale Florida. I am also originally from Canada, but I am currently completing my degree at Full Sail in Winter Park Florida and he told me that I should check out this company called Digital 1 Media and that I might want to get a job with them. My plan was to move out to LA with my fiance and go head first into the rat race, but I thought to myself it would be nice if I didn't have to move across the continent again. I am getting engaged and plan on getting married in '08 and my fianc would really prefer to stay here.

The person at the company told my dad that they were the largest and most successful media company in Florida, that they had contracts with the biggest networks and companies in the United States and that they were looking for investments to expand across the world.

Despite the fact I never heard of them I was really excited. I called some of my friends in the biz and guys at school and asked them to check them out. Within about three hours I got reports back saying that it was just some cruddy company and the people involved are scammers and criminals. They have only been around for a couple weeks and are saying they are some other company that has regurgitated itself.

Their website is sub-standard with compression artifacts in pictures and pixelated erratic video of all kinds of celebrities. Not to mention there is nothing of any substance, just a lot of fluff. A media company, YEAH RIIIIGHT!

One of my classmates said they claim they just bought this big Music and DJ Company that is a world leader in music, I guess kind of like iPod. He lives nearby their offices and drove over to see the facility. He said it was a hole in the wall. He also said some guy at school tried their DJ software and it is crap and outdated.

I'm off to LA after graduation and my dad isn't giving any of his hard earned money to Digital 1 Media.
