Digital Depot Online Bait and Switch and unavailable customer service Internet
After ordering a camera lens on-line rom Digital Depot Online, I was contacted by phone by a Digital Depot Online representative, to "verify" my order. He told me that the lens that I'd ordered would not fit my camera, but that he had a comparable lens that would be much better, for about the same price.
I agreed that he could send the better lens, and he agreed to send an updated order. However, the new customer order had conditions on it that were unreasonable. One cannot cancel an order without a 10% restocking fee; there is a 20% fee for refusing orders; all order cancellations must go through customer service.
I also discovered that the "new, improved" lens that he pushed, is in fact just the 2012 model of an old, inexpensive lens that retails for less than half of the price that Digital Depot Online charged me.
I attempted to cancel the order on the on-line customer service form, but have gotten no reply.
I called the customer service number. This involves long waits, and no pick up. After I finally reached a live person and told him that I wanted to cancel my order, he put me on hold, then told me that the person to handle that was not in to work and would call me "tomorrow". The call never came.
In the meantime, I contacted my credit card and instructed them not to pay this vendor. I also closed the credit card, because other on-line posts indicate that once this company has one's credit card into, the customer gets unordered merchandise and charges.
Today I got emails indicating that my merchandise has been sent; I will refuse it.
Buyer beware; this appears to be a single person with a phone, scamming customers, making returns impossible, with unreasonable return policies and limited/no availability to customer service. Also, your credit card is at risk.
