On August 20th 2012, I ordered a Nikon DI5100 camera body only (salesman threw in an 18-55 VR lens), and Nikon AF-S Nikkor 55-300mm ED VR Zoom lens.  Through their offer they also included a deluxe case, lens cleaning kit and full size Tripod, speed card reader, and screen protector for free.    I asked the salesman, Andy Barnett, if the camera was a US warranty camera and he stated that stated that the camera was not.  He said that the camera was $299.00 for an import warranty and that a US camera would be $399.00.  We talked about the price and settled on the $399.00 price and that he would throw in the 18-55 lens mentioned above.  I asked Mr. Barnett if the camera was in stock and he said that it was and that we would be getting it within 10 to 15 business days.  I agreed to the purchase and the order was placed at 9:07 AM mountain time.  The telephone number that you call for the online site states that they record the calls coming in.  If this is correct, this transaction call should be easily tracked and confirmed with the above information.

In approximately 7 days, I received the deluxe case, cleaning kit, tripod, card reader, screen protector and the zoom lens.  I did not receive the camera or the 18-55 lens so I called the phone number for the site.  I was told that the camera would be getting to me within another week with the additional lens.  I said no problem and that conversation ended.

On Tuesday September 4th, I called again because I had not received the camera and I wanted to use the camera to take pictures of my oldest son who was playing football at the time.  That was the primary reason I purchased the camera.  I was told by a person who took my call that the camera was backordered and that it was going to another week out before it arrived.  I told him that that was not the salesman who sold me the camera originally stated.  I again explained to him why I had purchased the camera and he said he was sorry and that there was nothing he could do.  I was frustrated but said that I would wait the two weeks because I thought I got a pretty good deal on the cameraso I waited.

On Friday September 14th, I called once again because I did not receive the camera as I was told on September 4th.  I asked to speak to a supervisor but was told by the male who answered the phone that he was a supervisor and that he could take may call.   I explained the whole situation and told him that I had not received my camera yet.  After giving him the order number, he stated that I got a very low price for the camera with the US warranty and that I should have not got that price.  I explained to him that was the price that the salesman, Andy Barnett, gave me when I placed the order and that was something he needed to take that up with him since he sold it to me for that price.  The individual that I was talking to said that it was going to be another week to 10 days before the camera arrived but that stated that I was more than welcome to cancel the order if I wanted to.  I told him that I was not interested in cancelling my order specifically now that I had waited so long.  I told him what I wanted was the camera that I ordered and wanted them to honor that price.  I explained to him that the salesman said that it would arrive to me within 10-15 business days and now are at a month.  He stated that he was sorry but that there was nothing he could do.  I asked to be transferred to the Service department to make a complaint about the purchase and was rudely transferred.  I was placed on hold for 37 minutes and then the line was disconnected.  I did not try to call again.

On Tuesday the 28st, I again called Digital Depot Online and asked for the service department.  I waited on hold for 21 minutes.  I asked for the status of my camera.  I was plainly told that the camera was once again on backorder and that it would be in on October 7th.  I asked the individual if he thought it was strange that the camera kept on getting put on back every time I called.  He said no and asked if I still wanted the camera.  I had to laugh and told him yes and ended the call.

I waited until December 7th to call again because frankly I was upset the quality of service I was receiving from Digital Depot Online and was fed up with it.  I missed the entire football season my boy played in and the Basketball season he played in as well.  We continued to use an old digital camera we have had for a while to take some pictures.   When I called today at 9:53 am Mountain time, I was told by a VERY rude person in the customer service department that the camera was still on backorder.  I stated that I had called the number to check their supplies on the Nikon DI5100 and was told that they had several on hand and would be ship as soon as the order was made.  He stated that it took this longer to get at a camera with import warranties.  I explained to him that the camera I was sold back in August was not an import warranty camera and that it was a US warranty camera.  He said, that no it was not, and that it was an import warranty camera that I had ordered.  I explained to him once again that that was not the case and that I wanted to talk to the sales person who sold me the camera, Mr. Andy Barnett, he stated that Mr. Barnett no longer worked for the company.  He stated that he could sale me the Nikon DI5100 today to $499.00 but that he could not sale the camera for what Mr. Barnett sold it to me for.  He stated that he would add extra life batteries and something else but that the camera was $499.00 and not anything lower.  After explaining to him that was not what I had ordered and what they had sold to me, he stated that he did not want to continue to explain it to me the situation and that he had 14 other people on line and said that he was not going to explain to me again and wanted to know if I wanted him to disconnect our call.  I told him to go ahead and disconnect our call and hung up.

I think that this company is not honoring their obligation in delivering their product as they said they would.  An employee that works for them sold me a product that we (both parties) agree upon and now they will not honor.  I feel that they continue to state that the product is backordered when in reality they have it but do not want to honor my order.  And today, they state that the camera that I ordered is not what I initially purchased, a US warranty camera.  Through my various conversations that I have had since August 20th with Digital Depot Online this was never mentioned until today.  I feel it is an attempt or ploy by the company to get me to just say, cancel my order so they do not have to fulfill their obligation to me.
