DigitalEtailer & Capital One - It wasn't even a $10,000.00 mistake.
NO it wasn't a $10,000.00 mistake - it was a fraudulent attempt to secure $9,917.33 and as of today - they still have not corrected the problem.
On Dec 28, 2001, I ordered a Nikon Camera on the charge card used in my business. That evening - I recieved a call from the fraud department of my charge card company asking if I had authorized a $9,917 purchase.
Of course my response was an emphatic no. The fraud department indicated that it was an apparent oversite of the company and that they would mark hold on the account as a second authorization had been placed in the amount of $917.33.
The following Saturday, while treating two clients and their spouses to dinner thanking them for their business - the card was rejected at the table.
A most embarassing and humbling moment - but one covered by cash payment for the meal while apologizing to my corporate guests.
Since then - I have spent hours on the phone trying to resolve the issue. DigitalEtailers stating that they corrected the problem and Capital One saying that the report has not been filed and theirfore the purchase was made - a situation Capital One knows is not true and a situation that they in fact a subrogating.
Today is the January 13, 2002. The theft and fraud continues by willing accomplices. In fact - due to the grief caused - I cannot get DigitalEtailers to provide a pick up number from UPS to return the merchandise.
I would strongly recommend that if you wish to purchase a product via internet - there are much better and more honest companies than DigitalEtailers and there apparent accomplice - CapitalOne.
