I do not like the fact that everything that a selling clerk has to do in order to do their job requires them to surrender their social security number.

Everytime a clerk has to sign onto the register or get into the out dated computer system, or do credit applications, or bridal registeries, or fine china warehouse orders, mid orders all require the employee's "associate number" which is their actual social security number.

If the clerk doesn't use it, they don't get credit for the sale. I must of used it at least 50 times a day. The order forms for bridal registeries and fine china orders are filed away in an unlocked desk draw on the selling floor where customers can browse around it.
