Direct Auto Carrier An Absolute Nightmare that cost me $$$ Miami Gardens Florida
We contracted Direct Auto Carrier to ship our car from Vermont to California on June 12. The car was supposed to be picked up on June 16th according to James O'Conner the principle contact at Direct Auto Carrier. The car was supposed to take seven to ten days to go across the country.
On the 27th of June when I had yet to hear about when the truck was going to arrive I called James.
He transfered me to someone else. He had filled out the paperwork wrong and put down the wrong month, the car had not yet been picked up. That person then hung up on me.
Over the following weeks it seems that everyone at Direct Auto Carrier spent alot of time away from their desks, in meetings and generally unavailable. James never called back, until he called to insult me and tell me to "go to hell." Possibly the worst customer service I have every experienced.
Hours of phone calls later, days later, weeks later our car arrived. It took over 33 days to do what I was promised would be done in 10. And the amount due upon delivery was incorrect. So I had to shell out even more money.
Hundreds of dollars in car rental fees because James messed up and because the pick up was postponed, and then postponed again. More money because the driver contracted to do the actual hauling took 18 days (not the 7 to 10 promised) to actually deliver. Nightmare upon nightmare.
Phone calls go unanswered or unreturned still.
All in all doing business with Direct Auto Carrier has cost me twice as much as what was quoted. (and that quote was for $1450.)
Better to just sell the car at a loss or abandon it rather than do business with Direct Auto Carrier.
