Direct Contact Research Group Consumer Impressions, Inc Fraudulent check sent for "mystery shopping" San Mateo, California
I recieved a letter from Consumber Impressions, Inc (5000 Broadway Suite 100, New York, NY 10034-1602), along with a check for $2600.00 from Direct Contact Research Group (1121 Bayswater Avenue, San Mateo, CA 94401-1196). The letter states that they are hiring me for $100.00 an hour to do mystery shopping. I was to call 1-877-318-1502 to "talk to your agent who will registered you and activate the enclosed check."
The letter states that I was to "do grocery shopping at any grocery store where you normally do your grocery" and "buy gas or motor oil from any gas station, and "send money through money gram, western union, or Ria money transfer".
If this doesn't spell SCAM, I dont know what does. It also was mailed out of Canada. I Google'd the address on the check and got some plumbing company. It disgusts me that in this economy there are assholes like those who went out of their way to send me this trying to rip people off.
