(Edit: I've since talked with other advertisers who said they've had the same negative experiences and won't be advertising again with Direct Fairways. Highly recommend if you don't believe me to look at the negative Google reviews or complaints filed with the BBB and Attorney General's office.)

The first time they charged us, we received a follow-up call from a salesman who was going to place our ads. He wanted more money for placing our ads where we already thought our ads were getting placed. We wouldn't have given Direct Fairways our card info if we understood where we were getting placed.

It was an upcharge to get good placement. By the time they call you a second time they already have your money. We talked back and forth for a while and finally agreed to pay the extra for better placement and more ad space but said we first wanted everything in writing to see exactly what we were buying. They sent us everything in writing and a text to approve it, but it was different than what we understood was being charged.

So we decided we didn't want it and asked for a refund on our 1st charge. They wouldn't give us a refund and not only that but we checked our bank statement and they went ahead and charged us $1,075 extra for prefered placement! We called them and said they made a mistake and by accident charged us twice, but they said we had given a verbal approval to the upgrade so they wouldn't refund it.

We never gave them an approval, we said we wanted to do it but first wanted them to send over everything that we would be receiving and what we'd be getting charged. What they sent us was different than what we discussed. So we've had to start the process of a refund with the bank and had to file a complaint with the Attorney General. We don't want to teach anyone a lesson, we literally just don't want someone taking money we didn't agree to give.

It's like if you went to get a car and said we want this, but first let's make sure it checks out at the automechanic. Then after the car fails further inspection you decide you don't want it and they say, "we already charged your card for the car because you gave us a verbal approval."

So Buyer Beware:
1) Don't give them any verbal, written, or text indicating that you like or want any product because they will skew that as approval for whatever they want.
2) Before you purchase anything get in writing exactly what's being done before you agree to anything.
3) Get them to send you the actual yardage card or course guide from the actual golf course you're getting. Not a stock photo! The stock photos we got showed 1-10 advertisers. The actual golf course material for a golf course we got placed in had close to 4 times that many advertisers! Your company can get completely buried in a sea of ads.
4) If something sounds too good to be true it probably is.

This is a retraction of the previous statement. Direct Fairways General Manager personally gave us a call and worked through things with us and fixed the issues. Upper management has made an honest effort to work with us, and it seems the original sales member who worked with us didn't follow company protocol. Our complaints and request for refund had not been passed along to management so we were not getting a response. As of today, the overcharge has been refunded.
