Direct File Access, Aka Blazing Ebooks, & Billingsvc.com Fraudulent, completely misleading advertising, ridiculous lack of support, and bogus charges to bank account Internet
My experience is almost identical to another Ripoff Reporter, David Dagenham.
Like many others, I joined directfileaccess.com (March 31st) looking for a specific download. On their front page (before you join), you can enter into a search box whatever you are looking for, and not only do tons of hits come up, but they are all listed as "direct downloads". Assuming this meant I could "directly download" the video I was searching for, I joined up.
The "Lifetime Access" fee of $4.95 seemed reasonable because the video I wanted was EXTREMELY hard to find. They collected credit card info and what-not, and I was signed up.
After being redirected after my signup confirmation, I found that the $4.95 fee was for the first three days, and $29.95 per month thereafter (this is honestly only told to you AFTER you pay).
That bothered me, so I decided to check to see if the video was still available. To my "surprise", all of the hits to that video were now listed as torrents (which you can get anywhere for free), and another video that I had searched for (that had 12 or 13 hits) was not available at all (though it was 5 minutes earlier).
I smelled a ripoff and immediately sent them an email, or "support ticket". On April 1st, I hadn't heard back, so I sent another. I got a reply today (April 2nd) with a canned response (others online have gotten the exact, verbatim answer) from blazingebooks.com. I've never even heard of them before. They said they couldn't cancel my subscription but directed me to billing site and a "toll free" phone number (1-209-357-9013 and https://secure.billingcenteronline.com/customer_support.html)
I went to the billing site, and they wanted my credit card info again. Like a fool, I entered it, and it said that my subscription to blazingebooks.com was already cancelled. Funny, considering the fact that I never signed up with THEM in the first place...
I called the phone number and was told that my wait time would be over 35 minutes. I knew I would be charged for the call, so I hung up.
The only course of action I have with Direct Access is to send another support ticket, getting a response in 2 days, but doing so only directs me back to Blazing Ebooks, with whom I have no subscription and they can't cancel it anyway. What?!??
I ended up calling my bank and canceling my debit card. There are some fees from billingsvc.com that have tried to get through my account, but my bank stopped them. I have to wait a few days to see what the outcome will be, and I will be reimbursed for any charges incurred from these monsters.
Direct File Access has absolutely NO helpful or useful info on their site -- nothing to cancel a subscription or inquire about anything. You can change your email address or password, and that's about it. They're just a front.
Please, please, PLEASE be aware of Direct File Access, Blazing Ebooks, and any charge you have from a billingsvc.com. They are completely fraudulent and will swipe your hard-earned money before you can say "fraud".
