I had gotten an airline mileage card through WebMiles that used Direct Mechants Bank. After two years, WebMiles changed banks. Direct Merchants Bank sent out there new airline miles card but I decided to stay with WebMiles instead so I never activated my
account.

Each month I tried to pay off my balance on the WebMiles account but every month there were new fees and three times telemarketers made unauthorized charges against my unactivated account. Every time I called to complain I am told they will remove the charges and close the account and each month I receive a new bill with the same charges and an additional $35 late fee added to it.

I can't get the account closed. I can't get the bogus charges removed. I can't stop the continuous phone messages. And I can't get them to stop adding monthly late fees.

They have lied to me at every turn. And they have screwed up my credit rating. And I can't find a way to fix this mess.

Hello! I can relate to your plight. By law, the credit card company has to provide specific evidence to you IN WRITING that you owe this debt. I was recently at a very helpful site and lost the bookmark, but if you search consumer credit or rebuilding credit, these sites will come up. One was by a former ccard employee who said to notify in writing that this debt is not owed by you.

They have 30 days to prove you owe it (showing something with your signature ect). I really wish i could remember the name of that site, but it should come up with the above search terms.

If they can not show that these charges were authorized by you, they have to reverse them and close the account as ordered.

You can also dispute this with the credit bureaus. Also, something disturbing I found out...if a credit card company sends you something..always read it! Sometimes doing nothing gives them the ok to open an account in your name!
