called directtv for unrelated problem and was told i "was due for a free upgrade" for my receiver. i agreed, they sent a tech out to switch the receivers. he was there for an hour and forty minutes and could not get the new receiver to download the program. he put me on the phone with directtv they said they would ship a new receiver that i would receive in 2 days.

they were right 2 days i had another receiver. i set it up and found this one to be faulty. it would freeze up after 3 minutes. after 6 time consuming "reboots" i spent over an hour on the phone and told them i did not want the new receiver and would keep the old one. they said that i entered into a new 2 year contract because i activated the new receiver (even though it did not work) I explained to them that in order to have a contract they had to supply me with "consideration" and i was not receiving any benifit from direct tv therefore no contract.

i have spent hours on the phone and have written them to resolve this issue, and have heard nothing. i had not intended to cancel and probley wont. just dont like getting stiffed. they rush out their new receivers and most are full of bugs. seems they dont test them and leave it to the consumers to be test monkeys...shoddy
