For those who are thinking of purchasing Direct TV and NFL Sunday Ticket allow me to let you in on something.

I have been a subscriber to the above for six years now. For $179.00 a year I have been able to see all the 1:00 and 4:00 games on Sunday. Recently Direct TV was allowed by law to carry local network stations again. Where I live in Tallahassee Florida, local stations became available this summer at an additional cost of $7.99 per month. Since I already have basic cable I did not buy the network package.

To my utter suprise and amazement when the season opened last week the Falcons Sunday game was blacked out on Sunday Ticket. This Sunday, Sept. 19, the Jags game is blacked out. I think to myself "what the *&^% is going on I paid to see all the 1:00 and 4:00 games so why are some blacked out?"

I called Direct TV and they tell me that if games are carried on local network they are not shown on Sunday Ticket. I let them have an earful and hang up.

Folks what is going on here is nothing more than a good ole American Consumer ripoff. What they are doing is forcing you to buy their stupid local channel package at an additional cost of $7.99 per month and then still charging the full Sunday Ticket price. They never told me in advance they were pulling this scam neither have they prorated the cost of the blacked out games.

My wife e-mailed them a nice letter and I am henceforth not renewing my sunday ticket subscription. These freakin money hungry corporate bastards are not getting a dime of my money anymore.

So any of you who are thinking of getting Sunday Ticket, be advised you will not be getting all the Sunday games as they have advertized. You will have to watch local games on a local channel which is the biggest bunch of hooie to come down the pike.

I thought you had local stations?

Unfortunatly i understand your frustrations but the blacked out games are controlled by the NFL and the local affiliates. DTV has no control over what games are blacked out. In all the literature for the NFL Sunday Ticket there is fine print regarding blacked out local games. I think its stupid too but thats always the way it has been. I thought you said you had local networks on cable anyway? Cant you see the games there? Just to tell you a funny story aside, back in the early 1980's. my local team (The Patriots) were so bad that the home games were blacked out in Boston because they could never sell out games. Imagine not being able to see your home team on TV when you live 30 miles from the stadium!
