DirectOne ripoff They mischarged me, promised to reverse the charge, but they have not for 30 plus days. Santa Ana California
On April 25, 2003, I accepted DirectOnes offer (through an order to VistaPrint for business cards) for a 10-day free trial long distance plan. Six days later, on May 1, 2003, DirectOne charged my credit card $61.20. That same day, I called DirectOne at the phone number it had provided and ordered the service cancelled and my money refunded. I was assured the charge would be reversed promptly.
I have contacted them several times and they have assured me repeatedly that the charge has been reversed. It has now been more than 30 days and the charge remains outstanding.
Last Friday, June 5, I was told (again) that they cancelled my account as of May 5 and that the credit to my account was authorized on June 5 (!) and would post to my account within 48 hours. Today is June 9 and, to no ones surprise, it has not been credited.

Contact your bank, dispute the charge and start a fraud investigation, and also file with the attornery general. Information follows:
RESPONSE FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL
After becoming a victim of Direct One LLC, I started a fraud investigation through Bank of America. We also contacted the Atty Gen of the state of California, and his office sent me paperwork so that they can investigate further. California law does not allow them to represent private individuals, such as myself, but "in the case of statewide significance, they can bring legal action on behalf of the collective legal interests of the people of this state when substantive evidence is accumulated which indicates that a firm is systematically violating California law." In other words, everyone who has been defrauded by this company, please bombard the Atty General's office with your complaints.
