In October of 2008 I switched to dish network because they would be able to provide the affiliate stations. I called and cancelled my service mid Oct and was advised that I would receive boxes to return my receivers. I was advised that I would need to return these boxes to avoid a fee. They then advised that my account would be closed and they would review my account to see if I owed any money to them or if I would receive a refund.

I got the boxes and mailed my 4 receivers back in Oct. November I received a final bill indicating a small refund was due back to me. A week or so later I received the small refund. I believe that final is just that. Account closed nothing further owed to either party. But I guess if you are Directv you can change the meaning of final.

Today I got a bill for $3.99. Compared to some of the others experience with Directv I now realize this is a small amount. According to the 2 agents I spoke to this was for a PPV from June of 2007. They state that one of the receivers indicated that I ordered this movie but never paid for it.

Furthermore, since it did not show I was charged for the movie in July 2007 it must be correct. I called back in after getting hung up on by the last agent and asked the agent that answered her understanding of "FINAL BILL". Guess what, it was the same as mine - nothing further owed by either. It was not until I sort of chuckled that she caught herself and said - unless we find a PPV you did not pay for.

Now, I could understand if this was a PPV from OCT 2008 but June 2007????? They were unable to tell me which receiver or if it was ordered by phone or remote. I feel that this is yet another way to stick it to the consumer.

if there was no phone line connected the receiver could not get a call back and the movie would not have been paid for until the receiver was received back and the card read.
