04/30/07 I put my account in a suspended mode due to the fact that I was moving. I did not know exactly when I could get service re-established. I was told that I could be in this mode for 30 days.

About a week later, I was calling to schedule and appointment for installation and re-establish service. I questioned my deposit on account. After extensive conversation with many people, I was finally told that I have NO deposit on account. It took me about two hours for someone to break down and admit that I had no deposit and this was a fee. A blatant LIE told by the person who I established service with.

In essence and very brief recap, I paid Directv $200.00 for the privilege of having their service. I was hot to say the least.

Okay, so let's continue with re-establishing service at my new address. I was then told that I would have to pay $195.00 for installation at my new residence. I could hire a local technician or do it myself. I opted to pull out of the entire Directv service.

The calls and the begging to stay with Directv started. No, I just want to longer be a customer of Directv.

My cancellation fee would be $12.00 and I agreed. I was told on or about June 3, 2007 that boxes would be mailed to me and to return the equipment, remote, and access card.

One week later on or about June 10, 2007, I received the three boxes for returning the equipment. Pick-up of all three boxes was on June 18, 2007. All three boxes were received by Directv on June 20, 2007 as 9:00am.

On July 2, 2007, a debit appears for $80.69. I used this account for bill pay only and since all my bills were paid, there was no money in it. An overdraft of $31.00 is charged. I notice all of this today July 4, 2007. They say that they initiated this charge on June 27 or June 29, 2007. I got two different answers from three different people

I call Directv and spend about one hour on the phone total. I kept getting disconnected. To summarize, they are very sorry and apologize for the inconvenience. A refund check will be mailed for $119.62 in about three weeks. The $119.62 is more than the $80.69 because I already had a credit on account when they decided to bill me for equipment that they had in their possession for almost two weeks.

I was told that Directv does charge for equipment not returned but as a matter of policy they wait for six weeks before doing so. They waited four weeks AND they had the equipment in their possession.

I also have to fax my bank statement to someone showing that they caused an overdraft on my account. That will be an entirely separate issue and a check I guess will be issued. I do not know and was given no real clarification on that.

I wanted to speak with someone regarding this and an immediate refund issued in the same manner as it was taken out of my bank. I was told that could not be done and that no one in that department has a phone. I was also told that all transactions are done via email. I couldn't have that form of contact either. I am now waiting for supervisor to call me back. I stopped holding my breath already waiting for that call.

Now I contemplate how many letters I am going to write to as many appropriate people until I get my refund. I will stop when I get my refund. Part of me hopes that it will take three weeks to get my refund. That will give me a lot of time to write letters and contact people.

What I want is a refund for $119.62 to my bank account in the same quick manner that Directv improperly charged me in the first place. I also want re-imbursement of the overdraft charge of $31.00.

(Have already made three different contacts, RipOff Report is the 4th.)

Still waiting on my reimbursement from directv for 2 overdraft charges. I faxed them my request letter on July 12, 2007. On July 26, 2007, they say that "they didn't receive my fax", even though I have confirmation.

I have resent my fax. STILL WAITING.

Regarding Jamison's response/rebuttal I pulled a portion of their agreement currently on their website and posted it here where it clearly states thirty (30) days.

To Help You W/ Some Information...

#8UPDATE Employee

Wed, August 15, 2007

Hi. I work at a Directv Call Center. I was reading your report and it struck me with surprise to say the least. I wanted 2 apologize for any incovience you had with Directv Services.

With returning your equipment there are fee's if they are not returned and to the office within 7days via Fedex. So that's most likely were that fee came from.
Also Directv has a right to draft from any card on file via user agreement.

I just wanted to assist you by giving you some information from the inside.

Got some of my money back

#8Author of original report

Mon, July 16, 2007

July 10, 2007 I recieved credited back to my bank account $119.62. This is the amount I had overpaid and the amount they took out of my bank account.

I started shooting off emails to people and places and about thirty minutes after I wrote my rip-off report, someone from the office of the president called me. Wow!, it was July 4th.

directvcustomerhelp@directv.com
investorrelations@directv.com

Not sure which one got me to the office of the president.

This is the Phone # 888-237-8327

I am now going after two overdraft charges. They say that I should get this by July 23rd, 2007.

I will update on this situation.
