DIRECTV DIRECTV FRAUDULENTLY BILLING ME AND REFUSING TO CANCEL MY SERVICE El Segundo California

After noticing an extra $10 equipment fee that has been added to my bill since August, 2016, I contacted DirecTV January 2, 2017, to determine why the fee had been added and to request a refund of $50 I had overpaid from August through November 2016, along with a correction to my current bill.

I spoke with a DirecTV employee who informed me that a service tech had installed the new HD receiver during a July 2016 service call I made to fix problems with my satellite dish following a hail storm. I advised the employee that I neither ordered nor consented to a new receiver at an increased charge.

The employee advised me that the company no longer makes the receiver that was installed during my 2014 setup, so he could not refund the extra charge they had been billing me since August 2016 and could not replace the HD receiver with the one I initially ordered when I signed the two-year agreement in June 2014. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor and, instead, the employee simply put me back in the cue.

I hung up and called to cancel my service. Not only did I get no help from the woman in that department, she refused to cancel my service. She said, "What I can do is have one of our investigators listen to all the calls and go through all the notes to determine whether you did or did not order the HD receiver." I told her that I wanted a refund of the $50 overcharge and to cancel my service.

I have not had an agreement with DirecTV since July 2016 and, yet, she refused to cancel my service. She explained that she needed to read several disclosures to me. I advised her that I have filed bankruptcy and that DirecTV needed to cease and desist from attempting to collect any money from me and needed to refund the overcharges to my account. As of today, January 4, 2017, DirecTV has not canceled my service.

Do you work for DirecTV? Are you one of the two people with whom I spoke on January 2nd? The second question is, of course, rhetorical. Please, take a moment and re-read my post. DirecTV REFUSED to refund my money and remove the fraudulent charges. Thus, there was no "initiation" of a refund. DirecTV installed an HD receiver WITHOUT MY EXPRESS CONSENT. I did not order it and I did not want it. When I advised them of this and requested they take back the HD receiver they wrongly installed and replace it with the one I received at the time of initial service in 2014, they stated that the original receiver is no longer made and I had NO CHOICE but to keep the HD receiver that they took it upon themselves to install in my home without my consent. Not to mention, I have not had an agreement with DirecTV since July 2016.

As to your second comment, again, you are WRONG. Please, educate yourself. Here's a good starting point: 11 U.S.C. §366.

Sorry but YOU initiated a refund request. This means that your refund request MUST be taken care of BEFORE they will cancel your account. As for your bankruptcy it DOES NOT cover EXISTING SERVICES!!!! Bankruptcy doesnt cover your everyday bills like cable, electricity, ect. THOSE still have to be paid.
