Switching to DirecTV was an expensive mistake.
Problems experienced:
- Overcharges; DirecTV promised a refund for the overcharges, but I have not seen the refund yet;
- Despite all of these problems (see below), DirecTV is still billing me $420 for an Early Termination Fee (ETF);
- The TV screens often freeze (with no sound);
- The TV screens often partially freeze, showing pixels momentarily;
- The client units often will not turn on the TV (via remote or button in Genie) until power is cycled on the client unit, which takes several minutes to reboot;
- Despite calls to DirecTV and a visit by a DirecTV technician, who came to look at the problem with the client units not turning on the TV (via remote or button on unit), no problems were resolved;
- Often, the voice and video are not synchronized, which is very annoying;
- Often, the DVR will not respond, or will not respond until 15 or more seconds (or about a minute) later;
- On 16-DEC-2012, we were watching a movie (for $5.99), when the movie stopped half-way through, and then wanted us to pay $5.99 again to resume/restart the movie;
- DirecTV is now claiming that their records do not show that any repair technician ever came to work on the problems, and were therefore not given a chance to resolve the numerous problems;
- DirecTV is abysmal, and for DirecTV to also charge a $420 for Early Termination Fee, despite the numerous problems, is revealing.
- Therefore, buyer beware !
