DirecTV ,DirecTV turns on account in voluntary suspension; charges for service when there's no receiver. POB 6550 Greenwood Village Colorado
After a lightening strike killed my receiver, I phoned DirecTV to suspend my service because I had no receiver. After a few days, I decided to go with another sat company and phoned DirecTV to close my account. I was not under a contract; I had been a good customer for over 15 years.
DirecTV turned my account on for 24 hours in order to close it at midnight and charged me for a day's service which they will NOT refund.
They said its standard procedure and there's nothing they will do for me even though my record shows I had no receiver. Think of all the extra money they make charging folks for an extra day's service before they will close an account .... go figure.
