I understand what youre saying but the way they are doing this is very sketchy.. This was not the original card i signed up with. I knew there would be fees for cancelling early but they did not bill me, they just drafted my card...That would be like someone deciding to voluntarily repo their car..The car lot cant look at Payment history and just charge the rest of the car to a card they used to make a one time payment....Seriously...Thats crap no matter what they put in fine print. .... It has made me change cards and pay all my bills old style....Cash...That sux but i have never had a company do this ...They usually just bill me whats owed ...

But if you can find your ORIGINAL contract that you signed when you first recieved your service, you will see that there are VERY steep penalties for cancelling your service early. You may also be charged the FULL retail value of any equiptment you have recieved. I only point this out because I have had similar dealings with satellite providers. I had a power surge blow one of my DTV boxes. They TRIED to get me into another 2 year contract even though I have paid for the insurance on the boxes since the start of our service. I explained that if they choose to not honor their end of our contract, that is a definative breach of contract on their part. The supervisor on the other end did not expect me to either have my original contract or know HOW to read legalese.

My point is that if you are not armed with your ORIGINAL contract. Or the knowledge of how to read the fine print, they will screw you eveytime. Its not out of malice or fore thought. Its all automated, period. All the person on the other end of the phone did was click a box stateing that you were cancelling the service. The computerized billing system did the rest. If you feel that you have been billed inncorrectly then you need to work WITH DTV to get resolution on the matter.
