DirecTV Fraudlent Inducement used to get us to sign up for service Ventura California
We called in to sign up for service but our social security numbers didnt qualify. The rep told us to "give him any social security number just to get us past the initial sign up then we could put the account in any name we wanted to use." So we gave him my brother's social security number which opened the account for us. We gave the rep the name we wanted the account in and he said OK.
When the installer came to install the hardware he asked for my brother, we told him that wasnt the name on the account and he needed to change it. He said if he called
it in we wouldnt get hooked up today, but that we should call in after we were installed. So we did, several times only to be told they couldnt or wouldnt do that. Nor would they honor their perks or rebates. We were promised one year of free movie channels and another $150 cash rebate which never came. We discontinued service after six months because the refused to change the name on the account. The account was paid in full.
Now we have been contacted by the police department who want to talk to about US comitting fraud when they are the ones who committed "fraudulent inducement" to make us sign up. PEOPLE BE WARE OF DIRECTV.

I would suggest you consult an attorney.
You did commit fraud which is a crime here in NY. Whether you can be "inticed" to commit fraud to the point that you are not culpable for the fraud is a matter that you need to discuss with an attorney.
