There is a company going door to door in the Youngstown area called Directv Now. This is my story about what happened. 1 hour after he left all my tvs were saying 771 searching for satellite. There was an old Directv dish on my roof. He took off the old one and put a new on up. He left the pieces of the old dish laid out in my driveway. When I was picking up all the dish pieces I noticed the wires hanging off my roof. When I followed the wires they were going in front of my steps of my back door. They were pulled so tight I could not open my door all the way. When I called Directv I found out Directv Now was a sub contracter for Directv. Directv sent out a properly trained technician to fix all the problems. I didn’t have to tell him what was wrong he could see it. He had to redo my install. He replaced everything. If Directv Now comes to your door tell them to leave. If you want Directv call Directv and they will send out a properly trained technician to do the install. Thanks

Directv and Dish Net wouldn't admit to this

Yesterday in a rebuttal I made, I stated that from the nail on a fascia board may be nailed into a  ceiling joist. From that nail left or right is the roof joist to the center was 3/4 inch. That was wrong and I made a mistake it is 1 1/2 inch, from center to center of the ceiling and roof joists. If I make the mistake I own it. You would never see Directv or Dish Net admit to a mistake.

Training

This may come as bad news to you, but since 1994 Directv has provided training for all their Employee's and Independent Dealers.  Back in 1994 when they started we had a  Directv Card with the individuals name and company name on it.

Later Directv started charging 150.00 to take the class with a renewal of 75.00 each year after that. The last time I took the test before they started charging for the class. I made a 100% on Directv test and after 32 years in the business I don't feel I need to take the test anymore.

Because if anyone who doesn't know what they are doing , shouldn't be installing Satellite System and working on them. I believe it's  Utah that requires the Dealers to licensed to install Satellite systems.

I have a Nephew who lives not far from you in Pennsylvania. He told me the biggest complaint about Dish Network and Directv, is everyone complains about the roofs leaking.

I don't know about the Building Codes in Ohio. but here it states that anyone that penetrates the roof, must seal it and guarantee if from leaking for 1 year. I don't know if anyone noticed what Directv did with the roof mount. They shorten the pipe and this reduces the pressure on the roof mount from wind loading. Especially when a lot of the installers are not attaching it to the roof correctly.

You see the Building Code doesn't state how to install the mount to the roof. But the top and bottom center holes should be anchored into a roof joist, using 3 inch lag screws. The other 4 outer holes would be anchored into the 1/2 inch decking.

On a roof mount you can tell if it is anchored to just decking. By going out an check the fascia board for 2 nails that are usually 24 inches apart. When you look up at the dish and its in between the nails . Then your dish is just anchored to the decking.

The nails are usually either nailed into the roof joist or the ceiling joist. If the center of the roof mount is centered on the nail. Then it is installed correctly over the roof joist. If the center of the roof mount is left or right of the nail. Then the nail is in the ceiling joist and center of the roof joist is 3/4 left or right of the nail. Here again the center holes on the roof mount are installed correctly to the roof joist.

If you're happy with the service you get from Directv, that's great. But there is a lot of people here on this site. That would really disagree with you.

Just beause someone comes out and does a bad install. Doesn't mean we're all that way.
