I had service with DIRECTV Broadband at three locations over the course of two years in the Bay Area. Based on their policy, I had to completely disconnect service at each location, then re-order for the new location. According to them, this would keep me from being billed a contract termination fee.

Then, in February of 2003, I received a note stating that they were closing the DSL/Broadband part of the company, and that my service would be disconnected. In March, I apply for credit and am told that I have an outstanding collection with DIRECTV for $162. So, I call and am told that it was for early termination of contract. I explained that they disconnected the service, not me, and the rep agrees and supposedly changes my account to a zero balance. Collection calls persist.

I called back today 12/8/03, and am told that I am now in collections for $323. But, they can't tell me what any of the charges are for!!! They escalated to a supervisor, who also couldn't tell me what the charges are for.

They are billing me for charges that I NEVER should have been charged!
