Complaint Review: DirecTV

DirecTV ripoff charging for services not rendered deceptive advertising Boise Idaho

After being directv subscribers for over ten years and purchasing the football package all those years, they changed the rules this year and didn't let us know.

Directv blames it on the NFL, but we live in a rural area of Missouri and can't get any reliable tv service by antenna. We have for over ten years watched the KC Chiefs on the football package we purchase from Directv.

We discovered on this first Sunday of the season that because directv "has plans" to get us local stations sometime around the end of this year, the Chiefs and Rams are blacked out for us.

Directv gladly took our money $200 this year for the football package without any notice that anything had changed. I called them and a supervisor is supposed to return my call, but it will probably be tomorrow when we're at work. I'm fed up and furious and will be contacting elected officials, state attorney general, NFL, Chiefs, and everyone else I can think of. It probably won't do any good, and when it doesn't we will end our many years of subscribing to directv.

If DTV is unable to provide your local channels,I guarantee you have a local Fox or CBS affiliate, call Comcast.. they have rights to the games and won't let us broadcast them so people like you disconnet your services and get the one team you watch on cable. Have you tried rabbit ears? Complain to the FCC because there is nothing DTV can do about it.

Could be worse you can't watch the Chiefs play?

So, you can't watch the Chiefs play? This is easy to remedy. Just watch a dog chase it's tail for 60 minutes. You'll get all the excitement of a team with an 0-2 record without any of the stress that comes with watching a defense that would be hard pressed to stop a Cub Scout Troop. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I can understand why you were upset about the NFL Sunday Ticket, I worked for Directv up until last week and then I quit. Anyways, what had apparently happened is that the NFL had changed the regulations on the NFL with the blackout restrictions.

Even if we were not planning on giving you your local channels this year, you would still have been blacked out due to a local affiliate in the area is broadcasting the game. I know, it's really shady. They didn't tell us any of this until that first Sunday. I would diffently give them hell about it. Directv is a shady company who only cares about the company needs and not the consumer needs.
