Directv ripoff DIRECTV IS THE WORST SATELLITE COMPANY! THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ROTTEN AND UNTRAINED! El Segundo California
I have had nothing but problems with this nightmare company from the start. They are horribly disorganized. From day one I have dealt with nothing but incompetent people.
On or about September of 2006, I was forced to cancel my account with Directv. I was relocating to an apartment that could not accommodate Directv services. They gladly cancelled my account and sent me shipping packages to return two receivers. I dutifully returned their receivers. I even called FedEx to ensure that they had received them, which they had.
A few weeks later they sent me a bill for the two receivers. I called them immediately to refute this. I provided them with the tracking numbers of my return. They apologized and credited my account.
Eight months later (currently) they have sent me to collections. I have not heard a word from them since Sept 2006. They are a horribly disorganized company and I refuse to pay there fees for the receivers that I returned to them months ago. I have attempted to contact them currently solve this problem, but they refuse to work with me. They just put me on hold for hours. Every time you call you get another customer service rep that you have to explain the whole situation too all over again....once explained they put you on hold for anther 30 minutes, then another rep gets on the line to which you have to EXPLAIN AGAIN! This company should not be allowed to be in business. I have hired an attorney! If anyone is involved in a class-action against them, please contact me.

melissa - Keep those Fed-Ex Receipts!!
#2Consumer Suggestion
Thu, May 10, 2007
I read your report (I'm with DirecTV also, but in Dallas, Tx) and I can definately sympathize with your situation. I am just a consumer with this suggestion, and I hope it works for you.......
Be sure and go online to the Credit Bureaus who've got a negative on your report from DirecTV. DISPUTE the very report that DirecTV has put on you, by mail or online - whichever is best for you, and make copies of your receipts showing you returned those receivers! If you mail the receipts to the credit bureaus, whoever they may be, TransUnion, Experian, or Equifax - they will most assuredly investigate and they will HAVE TO REMOVE the negative charge once they investigate and see that you indeed did your part!!! I've disputed several items myself and they really get on it quickly and they respond to you usually quicker than 30 days.
They will delete that negative remark if they see that you've proven your case. It's very simple. I can say this much: TransUnion was very good at responding quickly. I've not heard back from Equifax yet. I have not sent my disputes in to EXPERIAN yet, cause they only do online and it's weird. I like sending copies of my disputes through the mail and for some reason, Experian only does online.
Anyway, good luck. I hope that by showing your receipts from FED Ex, you can get this resolved without DirecTV trying to ruin you. These satellite & cable companies don't seem to care about checking out the facts, they only jump as quickly as they can to try and ruin someone's name. Whatever happened to Customer Service? It seems to be a thing of the very distant past!
PS: Credit Keeper is one of the online services that, for $10/month, you can go online anyday-anytime and get your "3" credit reports as well as your score! If you become a member of CreditKeeper, they send you a neat package that helps you a lot with disputes and other things - and you can cancel anytime without a problem, be it one month later or 6 months, etc. It helps to have someone on your side to help with the dispute process, because of crooked companies trying to ruin people left and right.
It's real sad when we, as hard-working Americans, have to hire an attorney to get the wheels of justice going, and sometimes the attorney can hurt you too! Especially financially.
