Dirty Car Wash In Antioch Tennessee "Keyless" Nashville Tennessee

On June 19, 2008 @ 5:41pm, I took my car to the Dirty Car Wash located @ 519 Bell Road in Nashville Tennessee to be cleaned. The customer service person greeted me and was full of information on the various services offered at the car wash. I chose the $29.95 package which included carpet shampoo, window cleaning ect.....

After approximetly 20 mins or so, my car was pulled onto the conver belt in the car wash bay. I watched my car roll through the wash to the end of the conver belt. This the point where the car is usually pulled out and the tires are supposed to be shined, air freshener etc....

My car has a manual transmission and when the attendent tried to start my car, the car would not start. Two employees proceeded to push my car out of the bay into the parking lot. The attendent who tried to start my car said, "Ma'am does your car do this all of the time"? I replied no.

He asked me if I wanted to try to start my car and I said sure. When I got into the drivers seat, I noticed that my key was in two pieces. The metal piece was separated from the housing unit. The car would not start without the two pieces being connected. The attendent told me he didn't know what happened and to hold on. I then asked to speak to the manager and I was told that the manager was not there.

Meanwhile I sat in the hot car with my son who happens to be 5 yrs. in the back seat. Some man pulled up into the parking lot of the car wash and two employees ran to his truck and they held a conversation for about 5 minutes. The man who pulled up in the truck would not identify himself and asked what the problem was. I told him about the key and he asked me was he was supposed to do about it. He called the employee over who cleaned the car on the inside and asked him if he had broken the key, and he said yes. He said "we're not paying for that key. I don't know what you are going to do".

The man who still would not identify himself walked off and started to verbally assualt me. He said that I was just looking for money. He indicated that if my key only cost $3.00 then we would not be having this conversation. I proceeded to go into the building with my son to get information on the company, management names, etc. and he told the employee inside to lock the door she is trying to harm you, call the police. Too late, I had the police dispatcher on the line. Then the person who I assumed was with management told employees that they were closing for the day.

The police arrived and a report was filed. I have to get my report in 72 hours and then I will be contacting my lawyer. I have to replace my key and the cost will be between $150.00-$200.00. To make matters worse, the car was not cleaned very well, tire shine was not applied on the passengers side, and I did not get my cheap air freshener. Do not go to the Dirty Car Wash on Bell Road in Antioch, Tennessee.

Thank you for the employee for revealing "the truth" behind this hard-to-believe scenario.

To the woman who claimed to be "ripped off" -- first of all, when dealing with ANY car wash, you are doing so AT YOUR OWN RISK. Car washes do not assume responsibility for alleged damage to your vehicle, inside or out.

It sounds extremely unlikely that a carwash employee could have possibly broken your key, seeing as how the key was in the ignition when you arrived, and still in when you left. They had no reason to take the key out, break it on purpose and then give it back to you.

Funny how magically the car started without incident as soon as you realized you were not going to get a penny out of the carwash owners.

Broken key clicker

First let me say we do not remove keys from vehicles, all we do is start them if a customer turned it off. The part of the key that broke was the clicker attached to the key ring. If turning it while in the ignition causes it to fall apart this tells me it must have already been broke. I was not there at the time but I reviewd our camera's and not one time was the key taken out of the car. I watched you and a child get out and watch the attendent pull it to the vacuum area. After he started to vacuum you walked in to the lobby. When the employee was finished vacuuming he then drove it to the wash tunnel, once in the tunnel he puts the car in neutral and turns off ignition, when he did this the clicker fell apart. Anyone who has one of these knows that brusing up against it with your hand would not cause it to break.
That was the first time he had to touch the keys.
You told everyone up front that you could not drive the car now and would have to call a wrecker service. The whole time you were complaining loudly!
About 15 mins pass and it was closing time for us you told my husband and employee's that now you had to wait on a wrecker, you wanted Dirty Car to pay for this. After everyone leaves including my husband a car pulls in and you speak to them as if you knew who it was and immediately get in your car and drive off.
It was like a miracle that your car suddenly worked. No Wrecker, No Towing. I the have video saved if you would like to view it yourself. We have camera's all over the property and can review every situation.
