Disabled Handicapped Workers of America D H W A Inc Said they were a collection agency for a bill from 2011. I had not lived at that address for 15 years!!! Bellflower California
I was left a message from DHWA Inc stating that I needed to call them back about a bill that was going to collections. When i spoke to them, they stated that I had ordered lightbulbs from Disadvantaged Handicapped Workers of America and had not paid a $39 bill so now owed about $250 with late fees!
I had ordered lightbulbs from them several times in the 1990's (and paid for them) - the same lady would keep calling me back begging me to order more. I wasn't making much back then and these lightbulbs were expensive so I kept telling her "no". When I moved in 1999 and my phone number changed I Stopped hearing from her and was glad.
Fifteen years later I have my old phone number back and I get this rediculous call from them. They gave me the impression that they were a collection agency, stating "you wouldn't want to ruin your credit rating over this". They were still using my old address from 1999 and stated I had ordered the lightbulbs in 2011!
I was livid!!! I refused to pay her and said I thought this was a scam. At first she cut the bill down to $150 but i still refused to pay. She said something like "oh come on - they're disadvantaged". She finally said she would drop it since someone else obviously got the lightbulbs.
