Discount Auto Sales sells unsafe autos. Rip-off! Lorain Ohio
My daughter bought a used 93 ford tempo from louis figerero who owns discount auto sales at 1532 Broadway in lorain ohio. The car she bought was sold to her without a shoulder belt on the drivers side. in some bad weather yesterday she had a accident resulting in her getting some facial injuries. I need information regarding consumer safty, is he allowed by ohio law to sell a car knowing the car had this problem, my daughter is under 21 yrs. old.

This is an excellent lesson! This dealer may or may not be a schlock operation but this does NOT remove the responsibility from the BUYER to check out the car. This missing belt was not the same as a missing bolt in some out of the way place that can't be seen unless you remove the transmission! The belt or lack of it was clearly visible! I'm afraid to ask if a test drive was done. The missing belt would have been seen at that time too. So Doug, lets change your claim..."the buyer BOUGHT a car with a missing seatbelt". That's an entirely different statement from "the dealer SOLD a car without a seatbelt"!
People, I post these responses in hopes that we can all LEARN from the mistakes of others. I'm not going to tell anyone what they want to hear--that has no value. When you buy a car, check it out. If it has a problem, get it corrected BEFORE you pay for it. If you are treated poorly or there is an attempt to defraud you, get out of the place! Don't stay there and be a doormat or reward the schmuck for his efforts by buying the car! Doesn't that make a whole lot more sense than crying later? Read thru these postings and see how over and over again, people played the doormat role and now want somebody to help them.
