After we too were "swindled" out of $4500 by Discount Global Travel, my husband and I decided to make the 45 min. drive to Berkley to see for ourselves if there was a Mid American Connections office. Arriving after 4:00pm to this much talked about Company MID AMERICAN CONNECTIONS" to get some answers.

About a week ago, we called the 866 toll free number for Discount Global Travel to make a reservation for our summer vacation; Mid American Connections was who answered the phone. When we asked who they were & why they were answering Discount Global Travel's phone, we were told that this travel agency (Mid American Connections) did not take over Discount Global Travel, could not answer any of our questions and basically couldn't help us out at ALL! Needless to say this all sounded very fishy.

As we walked into this quaint and busy Agency, we were greeted by a very pleasant receptionist. I immediately scanned the place for ANY sign of familiarity, a Discount Global Salesperson (Mr. Scammer), a pamphlet, brochure or maybe some free trip vouchers 'that we never got to take', signage or ANYTHING having to do with Discount Global Travel and found nothing. We asked to speak with "Gayle, the Manager after a short wait, she asked us into her office where I again scanned for any sign of involvement. Nothing, we found ourselves in a business like Caribbean atmosphere and a cup of coffee in our hands.

Long story short after spending 30 minutes with Gayle and her assistant manager Lynn, my husband and I were convinced that Mid American Connections is in no way connected to Discount Global Travel and in fact have been working very hard to separate themselves from the negativity of them. Obviously this is hard to do when you look at the hard facts; Gayle and a few of Mid American Connections current Travel Agents worked booking reservations last year for Discount Global Travel in the Royal Oak, MI location and are now heading up the campaign to disconnect themselves while temporarily accepting their reservation calls. These agents seemed, to us, to also be miffed in some ways at Discount Global Travels inner workings, treatment, etc of the segregated reservations staff and (I'm sure) other undisclosed things.

It was explained that while the arrangement to let Discount Global Travel's toll free reservations number be forwarded to their' s turned into a bigger headache than anticipated, BUT They fell confident that they can build their book of business and meet new clients this way since they are one of the preferred providers for the Global Explorer Software. Just like they said when we called. Gayle offered us a complementary disc. So we could see what they have to offer.

Anyway just thought this information may help some of you out there looking for answers as we did. We didn't want to leave any stone unturned. We will now pursue a different avenue looking for Discount Global Travel. Well, we didn't have to wait or look very far today we received a letter saying that Discount Global Travel- DGT was now with the company Castaway Vacations out of TX.

GUESS what they want? You got it! More money and it seems that Peder Seglund the President of DGT is now Peter Henrick which is the same last name for Michael Henrick who was the manager of Superior Promotions. The company that we sent $150.00 to for that free Las Vegas Trip that we never got or our money refunded. He needs to be stopped. Mid American Connections, Please except our apology for trying to help all of the DGT members.

I was a client of DGT and used them for condos in Mexico and Hawaii. I got a fantastic condo in Cabo for only $199 for the week (retail was $265 a day) I only paid $399 for my Maui condo and it was over $300 a day retail. I also used them for a cruise and saved a couple hundred. I like the product so much I went to work for them.

When they went out of business they transferred all assets of the company to Mid American Connections to continue fulfillment of DGT clients. DGT has also recently offered Castaways as an option as well.

If DGT clients choose not to continue with either service other options will be offered in the future or the clients can charge back their credit card they used for purchase and DGT is not disputing the charge back.
