To everyone who has a DISCOVER CARD take out your scissors and cut it up. We wish we would of never had this credit card. We used to use the card when we traveled and then take a few months to pay it off.
My husband who was the only one who had a Discover card was the victim of ID theft. We hardly used the card so we didn't catch the theft right away in about Dec. 1999 or Feb. or March of 2000. When we realized that the card had been stolen out of his wallet and the paper trail started to catch up to us, we reported the card as stolen and filed a police report in our small town their idea of a report was to give us a business card with the officers name and phone number on it. Back then ID theft was not a big issue as it has become in the last few years. We called Discover Card as soon as we realized the card to be gone. From the first they treated use like we were lires. We told customer service at that time that we had a few thousand dollars on the card from a recent trip that we had taken, but we didn't max out the card over the $10,000.- limit. We told them at that time we would be willing to pay the amount that we owed, but we were not going to pay what was done after the theft accured.
We are still fighting over the account to this day we have tried everything but go bankrupted. Because of their bullying and their scare tactics we have paid $6,000.00 on a bill that we only owed a few thousand on (we finally got out our canceled checks to see how much we have paid them) the worst thing about this, is that we felt obligated to pay the money we had spent on our vacation. So, Discover maintains that we are responsible for the entire amount even though we turned in a report of ID fraud. They 100's of customer service people that we have dealt with over 4 years maintian that we never did this and act like this is the first time they have heard of ID theft? Our bill even with paying $6,000.- we still owe over $10,000.- to this day. because every month we accrue over the limit charges and late fee's even when we aren't late on the inflated payment that they have been demanding and their out of control interest rate. We are now to the point with Discover that they want to take legal action against us. I am writing this because we tried to do the honest thing and pay the money that we owed.

Discover is a ripoff company and they should be investigated for their fraudulent credit practices. Everytime we have contacted them we never talk to the same person even though they tell us to call back and talk to so & so. When we call the number that we were given, no one knows that person and they state that nothing was documented on their computers. Right! a big coorperation has no documentation of where the money is or who their customers are? We are sick of Discover and we are not going to pay them another dime. We had ID theft, Discover was not the only company that was hit when the theft accured. MBNA,Wells Fargo, Fleet & Chase Manhattan all dealt with us and excused the debt as fraud or we paid what we owed and the other companies charged a $25.00 or $50.00 fee according to their contracts. They all dealt with it in a perfessional & legal manor. They never hounded or threatened us. They actually investigated the fraud and excused most or all of the debt. Discover has done nothing but turn us into the credit reporting agencies ruining our credit, they have never investigated the ID theft or worked with us in solving this problem. We are now turned them in to all 3 credit agencies and demand that they investigate Discover and their credit practices, because what they have done to us should be against the law.

All we ever wanted to do was the right thing and pay what we owed. We never dreamed that by doing this we would be the bad guys and have to live through this living nightmare.

IF YOU CAN CANCEL YOUR CARDS WITH THIS COMPANY AND TELL THEM YOU DON'T WANT THEIR 1% OR 2% CASHBACK THE PRICE IS TO HIGH TO PAY IF YOU EVER HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS COMPANY.

FINALLY SETTLED WITH THE CROOKS FROM DISCOVER

FEB OF 2005 WE FINALLY GOT THESE CROOKS OFF OUR BACKS AT A VERY HIGH PRICE. WE HAD TO GO TO A FEDERAL ARBITRATOR AND GET LEGAL HELP. WE DID PAY WHAT WE OWED ON FEB.28TH, 2005 ALMOST 5 YEARS TO THE DATE OF OUR I.D. THEFT. THEY ARE THE WORST COMPANY TO IN THE HISTORY OF THE CREDIT WORLD TO DEAL WITH.

NOW WE ARE STILL STUCK WITH REPORTING THE DEAL ON OUR TAXES AS INCOME BUT I WOULD OF AGREED TO ANYTHING TO GET THESE CROOKS OUTOF OUR LIVES.
I HAVE TOLD HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ABOUT OUR PROBLEMS WITH DISCOVER AND SOME DAY THIS COMPANY WILL FEEL WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE CHEATED.

I HEARD I.D. THEFT IN LARGE COORPORATIONS IS ON THE RISE. AND THE WAY THIS COMPANY OPERATES I BET THEY ARE SETTING THEMSELVES UP TO BE RIPPED-OFF BIG TIME. WHEN YOU EMPLOY CROOKS THAT DON'T CARE WHO THEY SCREW. YOU WILL BE BITTEN SOMEDAY.
THEY RUINED OUR CREDIT HISTORY FOR NOW BUT WE WILL RISE ABOVE WHAT THEY DID TO US, I PULLED OUR CREDIT REPORT THE OTHER DAY TO MONITOR WHAT IS GOING ON EACH MONTH. I FOUND THAT WHEN MY HUSBANDED CALLED TO REPORT THE CARD STOLEN THEY CLOSED THE ACCOUNT, BUT THEY JUST OPENED THE SAME ACCOUNT NUMBER AND REPORTED EVERY MONTH THAT WE WERE LATE ON THE THE EXACT ACCOUNT NUMBER THAT THEY WERE TO BE INVESTIGATING.

IF YOU HAVE A DISCOVER CARD GET YOUR CREDIT REPORT OFTEN AND MONITOR WHAT THEY ARE DOING. I HAVE A FRIEND THAT I GAVE THAT ADVISE TO AND SHE FOUND OUT THAT EVEN THOUGH SHE HAD NEVER BENN LATE ON A PAYMENT THEY WERE REPORTING LATE CHARGES ON HER CREDIT REPORT. WHEN SHE CALLED THEM THEY STATED SHE WASN'T SENTING THE PAYMENT TO THE RIGHT PLACE AND BY THE TIME THEY WERE GETTING IT, IT WAS LATE. SHE HAS TURNED THEM INTO THE FED.TRADE COMMISION.

MIND YOU SHE WAS USING THE STATEMENT THAT THEY WERE SENTING HER & THEY SAID IT WASN'T THE PLACE WHERE SHE WAS TO BE SENDING IT INTO.

THEY HOLE COMPANY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN AND RUN OUT OF THE FINANCE WORLD. I WILL NEVER BUY A STICK OF ANYTHING THAT THEY ARE REMOTELY RELATED TO SUCH AS SEARS. I HAVE LOOKED UP ALL THEIR OTHER COMPANIES THAT ARE SMITH STANLEY. THEY ALL WILL NEVER SEE THE GREEN OF MY MONEY EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel very sorry for you and start thinking about my card:

I totally agree with you! Last time when we called them we're going to transfer the other bill(which we're ripped off from HSBC first)to them,we talked to at least three persons,each of them said different thing,and they don't know what's going on.Until they got the notification,they put it behind,and didn't tell us that's over our limit,then charged us late fee and over limit fee.This is one thing.

Yesterday we called them cause they charged us "Account guard",AGAIN! We called since the first time we got the card,they never really cancelled that guard,it showed every once a while,when we called to cancel again,they always say no record or we didn't cancel it,very annoying!

Now,I checked our account,the amount we just paid last month,it rolled into this month as "previous balance"!They didn't take the money we paid out,but roll it exactly to this new balance!Can you believe that?We need to fight with them again,this starts getting old.
I'll try to get rid of this card in case any problem with them and you know they always screwed you!
