My wife and I have never been late on anything since we've been married.

In mid-June 2008, we received a balance transfer offer for a new Discover Card which we accepted. On June 25, 2008, we were told that due to information on our credit report, the application was denied.

I contacted Experian, and there was an inaccurate item from TXU Energy on there. The issue was resolved, TXU discovered their billing error, and fixed the problem. Great!! Now Discover can give me the sweet offer, right? WRONG!

Even though we are within the offer acceptance period, since they denied the offer due to an inaccurate credit report, they are refusing to honor that offer, or the subsequent offer I received today, which is somehow inextricable linked to the June offer. They did however offer me a card with a really high rate and horrible terms.

I thought banks and credit companies couldn't use inaccurate information against you, but Discover seems to be totally ok with it. They have no qualms telling me that those offers won't be honored because they already made a decision based on an inaccurate credit report.

It's good to be in America. Like the constituion says, "Government by banks and big business for banks and big business...."

I'm really glad we've worked so hard to pay all our debts on time, and really glad I got the situation with TXU fixed.... although, I have to say.. TXU didn't even try to fix this until after they turned it over for collection, but that's a different story.
