Dish Network bad customer service, repetative work orders still having issues, Englewood,, Colorado
We have been dish network customers for nearly 6 years now. We have repeatedly had issues, with pink screen, constant loss of signal, receiver going out and error codes. I have several work orders spanning from 2009 till 2011. Showing these issues.
They have come out and fixed it several times only for us to have these same issues over again. The last time the man who fixed it said that not only was our Hd wires not hooked up( so we were not actually getting HD, just paying for it), but also our dish was not tightened down. We still have issues with error codes, signal loss, and the receiver going out. Due to their lack of customer service and quality viewing as they promised , we did not pay our last bill.
When my husband called and told them they can have their box back and they can wipe our account clean with them , because he felt they had breached thier contract by not providing the excellent service promised, he was was treated with resentment , talked down to ,and left to sit on hold for half hour of waiting finally to get an answer machine.
Do not use Dish network they don't provide the quality viewing they make you pay for.

Update TV software

I've never seen a pink screen from an HD tuner. I'm not this would fix all your problems . But I would recomend that everyone check the tv manufacturer for software update.
I recently had two tv's where by tthe customers thought it was the Dish Net satellite box causing the problem. The first involved a Sony tv that was CEC compliant .That is when you turn on a DVD or other CEC compliant device and the tv automatically switches input.
Dish network is not compliant ( neither is Apple Tv ) with the CEC and the customers New Sony DVD was having the same problem with the tv. The DVD was complaint with the tv. So I had t h ecustomer call the store he bought the tv from . They came out and updated the software and it was under warranty. problem solved.
The next customer sound thought their new on HD channels was low compaired with the SD channel. But though the stereo systme both HD and SD were fine. So I had th ecustomer contact the TV manufacturer and the sent her a USB memory card . I went out and updated the tv software . The update fixed the tv. You can also get updates for your DVD players.
Their are three way to reset the Dish Network receiver.
1) Dishpro receivers press and and hold the power button on the receiver for 10 seconds. The lights on the reciever should go out. Release the power button and allow the receiver to reboot. Should take about 5 minutes.
2) Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet and wait about five minutes. Then plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. it will again take about five minutes to reboot.
3) Go to menu , system setup, diagnostic then on the remote press info, browse and then theme. This will be the memory dump screen. Once again on the remote press info, browse and theme .A message will come up telling you the memory is corrupted. Giving you the option of either unplug the power cord or press then release the power button on the receiver just once. Then you may have to press the power button to turn the receiver back on. Here again it will take about 5 minutes to reboot.
As a last resort you can to a factory reset ( menu , system setup, installation and factory reset ) .
Once you do this you have to do a check switch and a rebuild your favorite lists . Only do this if all else fails.
If none of these fixes your problem . Then it is time to call a tech out.
I don't know all the error screens you are getting . But loss of signal could be ; receiver , LNB , either bolts on dish are lose and improper installation of dish to house ( in any case the tech should have checked the dish alignment ) , Dish looking into a tree or building or shrubs, cable , connectors ground loop , Microwave interference ( also known as TI ) and your in the flight path of the local airport. I've seen Directv's LNB hold water just behind the white eye . Drilling a small hole into the plastic white eye to drain the water out. But I've never seen Dish Networks LNB"S do this. But anything is possible.
This may not interest you and wont help you . But I've been doing this for 27 years now.
