My service was turned on September 23, 2006. I have had nothing but problems since it was installed. I have called the compnay numerous times for the service to be fixed and have been put off. They would tell me that they were coming and would not show up.

The system seems to work during the night time hours, however, during the day it goes in and out and it changes channels on its on. I have not watched a whole program since it has been installed. I have been told by the company that they would send someone out. The technical person calls me and says that will be out the next day. I wait all day and then they do not show up at all.

Every time I call them back they apologize and come up with a new excuse. They even had the nerve to bill me for the services, which I refuse to pay. It is now October 3rd and they still have not shown up to fix the problems that I am having.

Change your remote address.

Your problem with changing channels on its own is probably because you have "UHF" or "RF" remotes. These work by radio signals instead of light, which is handy because the signal can go thru walls and let you change the channel from
anywhere in the house if you have more than one TV wired to the same receiver.

But the signal will also travel between houses. When your neighbors change the channel, yours changes too. If it's any consolation, you are also driving them nuts when you try to change it back. If you have a neighbor within a couple hundred feet with a dish on their house, this is likely the problem. After they go to bed and quit pressing buttons on the remote, you stay on the same channel.

Your remote and the receiver can be set to use a different "address" or code so your receiver will respond only to your remote and not your neighbors'. This is explained in the manual for your receiver, assuming you got one, or you can go to the company's website and download it.

It is not clear whether you have dish network or directv (they are NOT the same company) but they both have RF remotes on many of their receiver models and can suffer from this problem.

You named both Satellite TV companies, which one do you have? Maybe you are complaining to the wrong one?

I have DirecTV and have not had any problems.
