SUBJECT
DISH NETWORK
IRREGULAR PROGRAMING AND CHARGES NOT HOLDING UP TO THERE END OF CONTRACT

I am writing to you about Dish network I was a customer of there for a year on Jan.7- 2010 to Feb.7 -2011. When I sign up with them it was for 2year with free hook up and $49.99 for 1year witch was on the contract.
On the 7th of Jan. they hook me up and charge me $49.99 so I call dish and was told that that was one of there subs that installed for them and they charged for hook up.  I got that taken care and they took it off after a month. On 1-13-10 I got my first bill for $61.47 so I call  nothing was done about on 2-7-10 they did not charge me they give me credit on my hook up of $49.99 on 3-8-10 my bill was $57.44, on 4-9-10 $35.45 , 5-6-10 $76.21, 6-4-10 $68.07, 7-9-10 $54.78,they took off a
bunch of programing but never lower there price to mach there downgrade.

ON the 8-9-10 I called them and told them that I wanted to down grade that I  need to no how much my bill is going to be that I am on a fix income so I went to $29.99 per month so they say. And on 9-3-10 I got my bill for $33.00 10-7-10 $39.41, 11-23-10 $39.41, and one month be for my 1 year was over I get a bill for $55.35 that is when I told them to disconnect and got charged $163.00 . I reported to the B.B.B.them and here is there replay

On February 11, 2011, we received your complaint, dated February 10, 2011, filed with the Better Business Bureau.

You expressed concern about your monthly DISH Network rate increasing. You request to have the DISH Network cancellation fee reversed.

When I spoke to you on February 23, 2011, I explained that DISH Network reserves the right to change pricing at any time. Your monthly rate was correct and the cancellation fee is valid. I offered to charge you a $99.00 activation fee instead of the cancellation fee of $165.00. You stated you will think about it and call me later.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced. If there are further questions or concerns about this issue, please feel free to contact me at (720) 514-7279.

Sincerely,

Don't stop with the BBB

#2Consumer Comment

File a complaint with your state's Attorney General.  Just do a web search for their website.  Those complaints hurt them worse than the BBB.  You may want to throw in a complaint to the FTC for good measure.  Dish Network thinks they can raise rates in the middle of their contract because they hid a little disclaimer in mouseprint in their customer service agreement.  That doesn't make it right.  They should either remove the charge and give you the agreed upon amount or let you go to the competition without penalty.  Raising rates during a contract is despicable, regardless of what their "agreement" says.

Check out Dish Network's website.  They are still offering the $24.99 package, even though it ceased to exist a month ago.  I'm sure they tell their salesmen to continue to offer it as well.  Then when you're locked in to their contract they can raise the price and say "sorry, we can do whatever we like.  Despicable.

Don't forget to file a complaint with your state's AG!  That is the best thing you can do.
