I called at 6.30 pm to get a price check, was told to get a price quote that I needed to set up an account to see what is available in my neighborhood, was advs I didn't not need to keep this and could just cancle this at anytime.

I need to do this at my job (set up a dummy chart) so I didn't think this was an unreasonable request, I was advised that I could cancel anytime as long as a technician had not yet come to my residence. I officially did not have an account or the service, and I still do not.

I said I needed to check with my spouse first prior to actually excepting the service. The Representative/sales person asked for my SS# and Credit card number, I actually argued that I didn't need to give my credit card number and he said it was only to check my credit score and to keep on file if I activated the account. I reiterated several times that I was not comfortable and asked several times if they were planning on charging my card. He said no it was only for my credit check.

Yes stupid me for being a sucker, yes you could sell me a bridge

The very next morning (14 hrs later) I called back at 8 am and said the service would not work for my apartment complex and to cancel my pending order. The rep then said he would credit my card back the 149 dollars?!?!

I was upset that they had lied and charged my account, I asked to speak to a supervisor was treated to some extremely frustrating lack of customer service, finally I contacted my bank, and was advised by a rep there that she has seen this happen all the time. And to periodically check my acct bcz Dish will still tag on unauthorized charges at later dates, which yes they charged my account yet again.

Now I filed a dispute with the bank which can take 5-10 business days. And now because of this unexpected second dish network charge, I have 7 overdraft fees (at 37.50 each = 262.50 in fees) my check book was balanced correctly UNTIL dish again withdrew another unauthorized $149 charge, this days after I had already canceled the pending order and had corrected the first unauthorized charge on my bank account.

My bank said they would refund and correct my account but I still need to wait up to two weeks, while they investigated this dispute.

Please note

1 I have never had nor used Dish network services EVER
2 I called for a price quote and was mislead and lied to
3 I do not have any dish equipment, never had any
4 They stole 149 dollars out of my account, twice!

I am writing the BBB, the Attorney General, the Dish CEO (like he even cares)
Where are consumer protection laws? These companies are making money by lying, cheating and stealing. draining the blood from decent people and our gov't is NOT protecting us! we need action to back the consumer protection LAWS, that do exist but are not enforced.

Sunday night I called to inquire about Dish Network's services. Was told they needed my debit card number to run a credit report. I really didn't want to give it out but the lady, Amy, told me that my card wouldn't be charged anything. Supposedly they are recording these calls, but who knows. Anyway, I gave it to her, and was told I qualified for the free equipment and installation. I told her I wanted to talk to my husband about it and would call the next day to set up an installation date if we decided to go with them. The next day I check my bank account and there are 3 pending $25 charges, totaling $75. I called and asked them what the deal was. The guy laughed at me when I told him I was angry about the money being taken from my account. He kept insisting it wasn't a big deal since it was just a pending charge. Well, I don't know about you, but I wouldn't loan my best friend $75, especially if they just took it without asking like Dish did. He told me they could not lift the charges and to call my bank. So, I called the bank, and they told me they could not lift the charges, it was up to Dish. No point in filing false charges since it they were only pending. Called Dish, explained situation all over again to a different person, who told me "You shouldn't have pressed the button three times, and you wouldn't have been charged three times." What? I told her I didn't press any button, I didn't do anything on their website, I talked to someone ON THE PHONE-not to mention I did NOT authorize any charges to my card, and asked her if they could pull up the conversation since they were "recorded." Of course that was impossible and she acted like it wasn't a big deal, since the charges would come off in 5-7 days. So they're holding almost $100, unauthorized, for a week. For all they know that could have been my last $75 resulting in overdraft fees. Not only was I lied to, then blamed for their mistake, they were so rude after the fact and unhelpful. I can't believe it. They lied to me about not charging my card and then charged me three times. Complete BS. I am reporting them to BBB and telling everyone I know. Horrible, horrible company. At least I found out before I let them install anything in my home!

Credit Denial

It sounds like Dish credit qualified you with intentions to install service for you. When your credit comes back as "poor" they have a prepaid equipment program that you qualify for. In the future you should just call your bank immediately and dispute the charges with them. It is also a good idea not to give your credit card or debit card just to shop, even if they tell you it is needed. Also all the promotions are listed on the website (fine print and all). You only need to credit qualify if you intend to order the service.

price quote

i get called all the time for price quotes. any dish network dealer would have told you this. also a lot all dealers would have told you they dont do apartments . if you inform them that you live in an apartment. i would have called serveral dealers for the price quote and go to dish networks web site www.dishnetwork.com . some dealers would pull this kind of tactic to lock out other dealers from doing the install. dont give out your info like credit card number or ssn until your ready for the install. if you got a real credit card i would use it before using a debit card. things are going to get a little crazy . as the economy hits us all. i would guard your info like it was fort knox. as on a need to know basis.
