We were relocating from Illinois to Missouri. We wanted to make sure we could get our Chicago football teams, particularly the Bears, as we are dedicated Chicago Bears fans.

We made our move and when the pre-game season began, we could not find Chicago Bears games. We found out that these were blocked until the actual season started.

We called and we were transferred at least 3 times, but received no answer as to how we can get the games.

Finally, after several attempts, we were told that if we paid an extra $11.00 per month we could see the season. So we subscribed.

The season began, and our Chicago Bears were blacked out. When I called again, they told us to look at their Game Finder application to find the channel where the Bears were broadcast. Again,we followed all directions and found the games blacked out.

We decided that this, plus the poor installation of the dish, which is another story in itself, along with the poor customer service was cause to cancel.

When I called to cancthey're we're then informed of the 19 month cancellation fee of $20 per month totaling $380. This is a tough pill to swallow when you are on a fixed income. They also told us that if a stadium is not sold out 72 hours before a game, that it would be blacked out in our area. The key here is, we were not informed of all this when we signed up for Dish. I even told them at the time that we emerge diehard hard fans and it was really important to see the games.

The legal department insisted that we would get the highlights of the game on the NFL Red Zone..now would any football fan of a specific team be satisfied with highlights? We wanted to see the full game with every play. How do they not understand this?

i asked for the legal department to obtain a copy of the agreement, which was sent to me as a "signed agreement". They consider their contract signed when you agree to the terms verbally as an electronic signature.

In spite of this, I will go over the entire contract and file my dispute with the appropriate authorities. We are willing to file in small claims court or a class action lawsuit with others, especially seniors, who are willing to join us.

JoAnn,

Please understand that as a network provider, DISH has no control over which games are televised and not televised by any given network.  We just pay them to provide you with their programming.  Blackouts are also unfortunate situations that are beyond our control and here's a link to our web page for more information about them: http://www.mydish.com/support/blackouts. NFL RedZone is actually a highly-encouraged network for any die-hard NFL fan as it gives you live RedZone action with every touchdown and exciting play from all the simultaneous Sunday NFL games.  On average, there are nine simultaneous NFL games on Sunday afternoons. This network is included in the Multi-Sport pack currently for only $11 a month.  If you have any further questions, please let me know and feel free to email me at michael.lemar@dish.com!

Colorado,

First, they didn't pick on you because you are seniors...

I'm a senior, have Dish and find them a reasonable company with which to do business. YOU did agree to a two year pro-rated early cancellation policy. Service providers have NO control whatsoever on NFL blackout policies.  It's done by zip code as MANDATED by the NFL.  You would be able to see all the season games that the NFL didn't black out...it's them, again, NOT the program provider.

You should, indeed, read your contract.  You will find you have NO cause for legal action, whatsoever. The judge would read the contract and laugh you out of court. Seniors on a fixed income is just an excuse, anyone, senior or not could expect the same outcome. I don't expect anyone to kiss my senior, fixed income butt.
