My service was terminated for non payment on Aug 11 2004. This was fine as I knew I was behind on my bill but had to take care of a necessity bill instead. My one year obligation contract ended in July so I was fine there also. On Aug 16th I noticed a 2.00 1 time dish network withdraw, and another and then a 14.73 debit against my checking account.

I call them to find, from the automated service, that my balance I owe Dish is like 1200 dollars. (I had the 4 receiver plan) The Rep explains to me that I am being charged for the receivers until they receive them. I told the man that, at that time, I was not interested in totally getting rid of dish and was planning on reactivating my service in a couple week and that it was pointless to send them back right away and have them send them right back to me. He stated that "On the contract" I have 15 days to return them in. So I end the conver sation and I procrastinate a little and call dish back on the 23'd and say send me some boxes. They do. I send them out on the 30th.

On that same day there is another 2.00 charge accompanied by a 12.77 charge. I call again to say I sent them out today and to state that they are being over persistant with their charges and to just chill, they are gonna get the recievers. The rep tells me "Sir, once we receive them and monies we have taken from your account will be refunded and everything will be fine" I am somwhat feeling a little better about this. (supose that was why he said it) On the 31st I check my account and another 2.00 (lets sniff and see if he has any money) charge was posted from them. I am ticked now and call! I tell the rep again that they are on the way and to STOP TAKING LITTLE HITS AGAINST MY ACCOUNT!

He explains the "Great Computer in the Sky" is automated (thats redundant) and that once it is started it cannot be stopped and he is "sorry" but once we receive them you wil be refunded. I said, I have almost no moniey in my account right now if you keep it up your gonna kill me with NSD's. I said are they scheduled to try and do this anymore this week? He said no sir. Conversation ends.

Sept 1 a 2.00 sniff and a 8.57 charge are on my account, This was a more heated conversation with CS to no avail but you are gonna be refunded!!! THIS IS COMMING TO AN END I PROMISE JUST GIVING YOU HISTORY FOR VALIDITY.
Sept 2nd. I have to pay my electric bill, which is a shut off, no problem sorry if I am the only one who got one this month. I drive 38 mile one way to deposit 50. dollars so that I can pay it over the phone from my account. I drive back 38 miles to call the electric company and say. OK, lets pay this thing! "Sir, your card is not accepting the charges". MY GOOD GOD WHAT A COMPANY!!!!!! THEY TOOK OUT 49.49!!! NO 2.00 SNIFF EITHER THIS TIME!!! Now I am in a hosed spot and call!!!

When I call, oddly enough the automated service informs me that my balance is 46 dollars. hmmmmmm,??? The lady that I spoke with, after explainning everything, says "Sir. There is and never has been any amounts taken out for receivers nor have you ever had a balance reflecting the cost of the receivers" "These charges have been for the programming package that you still owe after termination of services. You owed us around 130 dollars. These charges will not be credited back to your account because this is money owed to us for services rendered. I will quit on this one, later that night I call yet another rep and simply ask, "everyone I talk to keeps bringing up the contract, I am sorry, but I moved mid contract and have seemed to have misplaced mine.

Where is the signed version of my contract? I would like it to be faxed to me so that I can make sure that I understand it. After a litle bit of "Toss the ball" and 15 minutes hold time, this woman, god this is agrivating but FUNNIER THEN !!!!!, comes back on the phone, and says """"Ok sir, after your services have been terminated dish network "DELETES THE CONTRACT" therefor we will no longer have the signed copy"!!! I told her, NO MAM. I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU JUST SAID THAT. GOOD, SINCE THERE IS NO MORE CONTRACT, THEN LEGALLY I AM NOT BOUND TO IT AND THERE FOR YOU CAN NEVER BRING UP ANYTHING PERTAINNING TO THE CONTRACT EVER AGAIN. NOW I AM ENTITLE TO A FULL REFUND PLUS WHATEVER MY ATTOURNEY WANTS TO CHARGE FOR DAMAGES. This woman stammering says" Nnno s ssir, I am sorry, that was n not a true comment, the contract still exsits" So I get this woman to tell the exact truth by saying to here. "Where did that comment come from? she says I don't know sir, I said. Was that given to you by a supervisor as a rebutal to my question? She says, No sir. I say, so you just came back on the phone and thought that you could make up anything you want to say just to see if I would buy it? She said, no sir, I said. You just made that comment up off of your head? She said Yes sir. So anyway I finished up by saying to her. "Do me a favor ma'm please put down in your notes on the account that you came up with that stupid andwer all on your own and lets see how many people are gonna let you keep your job!!!!!

They are sooooooo gonna get my monney back to me. oNe way or the other.

How to resolve any issue with Dish Network

#6UPDATE Employee

Tue, September 14, 2004

As a master level field technician, with more than five years on the job, I have some advice for customers with issues regarding Dish. If you feel as if you are being given the run around by low-level, power hungry customer service reps., simply state that you want to disconnect your programming due to extremely poor customer service.

Explain the fact that you work very hard for your money, and you feel as if some reps at Dish Network think they are doing you a favor just by answering the phone. You can be assured they will transfer you to the "Winback" department. These people will bend over backwards to keep you from switching back to cable. Even some of the supervisors over the regular reps are real jerks, always ask for the "Winback dept.".

Just stand by your guns that you will disonnect unless they meet your needs. Hold their programming hostage, and, hey, if they don't help you, call Directv. By the way, Dish is alot better about customer service than Dish, just my expert advice.

ok the only thing you can do to get your money back is either return the recievers or restart you services soon. there really is no other way. i really hate how they make you use you checking accounts or credit cards for payment but that's how they get their money back if someone tries to cheat them. but in cases like yours, it just screws you over.

when you do one of the 2 things i mentioned, the money will be reimbursed to your account. you also might be able to get the overdraft fees by talking to all the supervisors you can. you just have to be patient and persue this thing. it may be hard to believe but dish does what it takes to keep you as a customer, if you work your way up the food chain. and in the end you will get your money back and probably get a free month of a movie channel. :)
