It's hard to believe that such a big company does this kind of things to customers. After seeing their advertisement on the web I called to sign up for basic and chipest plan that they call classic bronze 100. The price for this package was 19.99/mo for new customers with agreement. Since it did not include much information on web I called to check what does this package realy is about. When I called I got hold of friendly person telling me about this package and I inquired, to be sure and clear, 19.99 / mo is all I'll pay for entire time of agreement which is 24 mo? He said yes, it won't go up I'm locked in on that price and my first bill will come bit after a month of service and it will be prorated including secont month of service and part of first month, so first bill will be over 19.99 but after that it'll not. He informed me that package includes max and hbo chanals free for first 3mo. after that I need to subscribe or they will be discontinued. I asked what chanals are included in those 120 that package includes and if I can look on web for that information he said they are all listed on their web. So me and my husband decide to go ahead and get this. After that rep that I spoke to transfered me to someone else who is going to get my billing and other info. I provided all information they ased for she said my credit card will be billed $25 just to check that it is suficient and that will be returned back on the card next day. I said ok. she had to check my credit history and that was fine, so we scheduled for someone to come out and do installation. They came out did instalation and my husband signed paperwork they handed to him while he was signing I asked if copies they are giving to us include everything I was told over the phone, that way we would not have to hold them there and sit and read fine print for 2 hours. Installer said yes whole 9 yard is there. Five days later here comes mail from dish and it's statement. First thing is I was not expecting this until about month later and secont thing is when I opened it was for $50.87. I called them and found out that they actualy bill for month ahead of time so my first bill included two billing cycles, so I said ok that would bring it up to $40 plus tax what's addition? He looked up and said yor receiver is not hooked into phone line which costs you $5 per month. I started to feel that this whole thing was anything but truth. I told rep that this is the first time that someone is telling me that my receiver needs to be hooked to phone line. He looked up in his system and said usually installer would do this but he noted that phone jack was not within 75 feet of reciever and my phone jack is aproximately 8 feet away. Rep said he'll fix billing and he will sent me wireless phone jack free of charge. All this raised need for me to ask more questions of what I was told when signing up. I asked if my bill was locked up at $19.99 for entire agreement period as I was previously told? He said you bill is locked for firs 12mo then I don't know what'll be. That's when I really felt like exploding. I figured not much that person I signed up with was truth. I called my husband and I told him what I have discovered from my conversation. He said there will not be much to watch anyway after they discontinue Max and HBO and it's absolutly out of consideration to pay even more after a year and I think so too. Their chanal listing is a mess so I can't even tell how many tv chanals I have that you can realy call tv chanal. I decided to call back and ask them to cancel. Rep that I got hold of said he could cancel service but I will have to pay cancelation fee of $15 per month for remaining amount of months in contract and there is nothing else he could do. I asked to talk to manager and I was transfered. After explaining her whole story she said there is nothing she can do, we signed contract that states it's done deal once you sign it and that pretty much it. While I was on the phone I was looking through what installer left us with and found copy of contract that we agree for them to do installation but not copy of contract that is talking about 24mo agreement, at that point I realized that they had my husband sign the contract but did not give him copy of what he signed. One thing after another and even manager could not do a thing about it. After bringing this up about contract she said if she has it on file she will send me a copy of it to alow her 10 days and if she does not she'll go ahead and cancel the service without cancelation fee. Day by day her comes copy of contract a MONTH after talking to her. It's fax copy that you can only read with magnifing glass. So now I'm not sure what to do, I'm so upset. If I go ahead and cancel I will have to pay around $350 or so for canceling and if I stay I will be paying $19.99/mo for 12 and then who knows what. I don't know if this is large enough thing to involve my lawyer in after canceling to prevent effect on my credit history. If someone has good idea what to do please tell me and those of you who have business with them just be careful since they may not be very trutful.
