I was told that I would receive local Philadelphia channels, I didn't get them, picture quality was awful, Dish technicians illegally opened the local cable company's box of wires on the side of my apartment, and after just 2 days of service I decided to cancel and they decided to charge me $420 + more. They said the fee for early cancellation would be $240, $10 x 24 months. I argued for 5 hours with them via phone but finally I gave in and said I'll pay the $240. Then they told me it was $17.50 per month x 24 months for a total of $420 plus $10 to ship back their receiver, then they said it was $15 to send back, plus the cost of two days I had the service. I asked if the $17.50 would be on a monthly bill, I was told yes. Then I was told $420 will be charged to my credit card in one sum. So I am waiting for them to send me a box with a shipping label to send back some of their equipment. I also had to go outside to the dish they put in the ground and unscrew a piece off and mail that to them. They don't remove the dish, it's just waste they leave stuck in the ground. What does that tell you about their disposable product? So for two days of DISH service, I owe them at least $435, I had to do work and unscrew part of the dish to send back, make a trip to the post office and was lied to about programming and was extremely frustrated for the past two days and will soon loose my entire savings. I'm an unemployed guy, back in college, caring for elderly parents up against a company with 14 million subscribers and they refused to offer me any sort of break. I am really upset and hope that others don't get caught in their evil web.

in oklahoma anyone that signs a contract has 3 business days to back out of it, what is your states policy on this. i also see they didnt put the coax in pvc pipe. according to dish network install policy. we have to ground everything to the home service ground. i cant tell in the picture if it was grounded or not.

here what ever is attached to your home is the property of the home owner. ive seen it when the local cable installer went out to a customers home. thinking the customer was illegally getting cable. when in fact the installer cut all the coax for their satellite system. the cable company had to pay to get the system fixed.

the only thing were not allowed to enter into is the cable pedestal. did anyone think to get a release from the apartment manager to approve the install of the satellite system.   usually the only thing in the box is a splitter and maybe the power injector. in the past they had bandpass filtering inside the box. back then it was illegal to tamper with it.

i also dont see were they came in and did the underground locates for utilites. i dont see any markings on the ground. not only do i call them in. i also advise the customer to call in and get a locate number to also protect themselves.

i give potential customers blanks copies of my invoice and contract. but now matter what they dont seem to read them. yes we are required to tell the customer everything. but that doesnt mean were perfect and we might forget something. their are people out there that lie their butts off. but just a simple reading of the contract would have told you this before you signed .

but i dont force my cutomers to sign the contract untill they are happy with the install. even if i have to go back to finish the job. it only makes for good business practices.

ive been doing this 26 years now and have a less than 1% turn off rate of new customer through dish network.

in what way was the picture quality bad, snowy, tiling. snowy picutre could be bad cable the modulator out of the receiver to the tv. tiling would indicate weak signal ( caused by trees , improper dish align) to a bad componet.
