I contacted Dish network to get pricing info for an Asian-Indian television channel.
I was quoted $ 200.00 for two room receivers as one time payment and a monthly fee of $14.99 + $ 5.99 as Access fee. The offer included $5.00 off the monthly bill for 40 months to help me cover the cost of the receivers (i.e. $200). Since, it was not within my budget I turned down the offer.
I told them to get back to me if they can get a better package. They called me few times after that with various options. The last sales person, who spoke to me agreed for a package of $ 10.99 for the Int'l channel with everything else waived. Also, I agreed to purchase the receivers outright, without expecting any discounts. My confirmation was not recorded as they said the confirmatino dept is busy and the supervisor has already heard the conversation.
Now, my first month bill is showing 25.99 as the charge. They are charging me $14.99 for int'l channel, $6.00 access fee and $ 5.00 second room fee). The channel fee is $4.99 in excess of what was quoted. The access fee which was waived is back and 2nd room monthly fee was never mentioned.
The customer support is simply refusing the take the extra charges, without offering any explanation. They are simply not responding to any of the questions regarding their original sales calls.
Since, I alrady have a sunk cost of $200 Dollars, if I cancel I lose that investment.
Be very careful of these guys, especially with international channels.
