My service with Dish was in Ga. and the below is my complaint about the lack of a rebate. I think they are running a scam with this nonsense about NOT giving the promised rebate.

Dear CEO Ergen:

I want you to know that I am very disappointed and very annoyed at the way your company handles the "Mail In $100 Rebate". So annoyed that today I contacted a 'Jason' at your 800 number and arranged for my service to be terminated after the period that it is paid through is up.

On March 9th 2006 I completed each and every block of required information on your Redemption Form and mailed it off to the DISH $100 Back Offer in Grand Rapids, MN. Today the 30th of June I get a form letter along with the original submission. I am told that my request could not be processed as I had not selected which programming I had with Dish.

I examined the entire form and nowhere on it am I asked to select any of the programming. I filled in each blank correctly and provided the requested documents.

I expected your firm to have provided the $10 a month rebate but you have not done this.

In my opinion this is a 'bait and switch' sort of operation which needs to be reported to the BBB and I will also complain to them about your company.

Despite this Grand Rapids firm having both my phone and email it takes 3 months for you to let me know that your company was not providing the promised rebate.

I find that your company is not operating honestly, you advertise a $100 rebate and when I returned the forms filled out as you requested you wait 3 months to tell me I am not getting my rebate. This is underhanded and dishonest and I will not continue to deal with a company that operates in this manner.

After July 25th I will be with either Direct or AT&T. I don't know if they are any better than your firm but I won't reward your dishonesty by remaining one of your customers.

I got a call from Dish in response to my complaint

#2Author of original report

Sat, July 08, 2006

Today, July 8th, I got a call from Eric at Dish, he was responding to my original letter of complaint and had the original paperwork in front of him.

He was unable to tell me where I had screwed up on my submission. He said everything looked fine to him, he couldn't tell me why it took almost 3 months for them to get back to me with the form letter saying I had left something out and my $10 a month for 10 months credit was not being applied.

He said that the credit would now be applied and offered me $20 off my billing as an incentive to stay with Dish. Frankly, Eric sounded like he was just working a Saturday morning plowing through a pile of complaints from customers who wrote to the CEO. I didn't get the feeling that he was very interested in whether or not I, or anyone else, stayed with Dish.

Since he was unable to tell me where I had made any mistake in my original submission or why it took so long for them to get back to me I thought that my original conclusion that this company was not sincere in their offer of a rebate and was just knocking back submissions as a matter of routine, hoping that 90% of us would just ignore the matter.

It isn't my policy to simply ignore dishonest or devious firms so I told Eric that my decision to terminate on July 25th was not changing.
