I received a telephone call much like everyone else advising me that because I was a "valued customer" that I would receive a gas voucher and airline tickets. The lady on the phone had my husband's name, date of birth, bank account information and social security number. When pressed, she would not tell me where she obtained this information from. Rather than confirming her information, I hung up on her and looked them up on the internet. I was concerned it was a scan and needless to say, after reading the posts am now convinced.

I filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office not because I was taken advantage of. I didn't confirm their information over the phone or "puchase anything". I filed the complaint to keep these people from taking advantage of anyone else.

The response from this company was unbelivable. I got a copy of the letter that Distinct Advantae/Guardian Marketing sent to the Attorney General's office. In they letter they stated:

"Guardian Marketing Services Corp" is a telemarketing service company doing, among other things, customer service for companies in the telemarketing industry." This is the case with Ms. Smith. As part of our customer service policy, this office handles customer service complaints that reach the level of a written complaint to a third party." They also stated that my telephone number was obtained from "her complaint."

I intend on contacting the Attorney's General's office tommorrow again. These people did not contact me to resolve any kind of complaint. They tried to scam me. Had they been legitimate than why wouldn't they tell me how they got my information.

In addition, I have worked in Customer Service Management for over thirteen years and have NEVER asked someone to verify their social security number and bank account information in an attempt to resolve anything. They never said anything about any of what was in their letter.

The reason for this post is to encourage all of you to do the same. Please contact the Office of the Attorney General, Tampa Economic Crime Division, Concourse Center 4, 3507 E Frontage Road, Suite 325, Tampa, FL 33607-1795. Their telephone number is 813-287-7950. If enough people contact them, maybe they will take the complaint seriously enough to warrant a real investigation into this company rather than listen to their lies about being a "customer service" company.
