We contracted with Distinct Design, Ed Arroyo to build a sunroom that cost 40,400. It was a nightmare from the beginning. We signed the contract in May 2007 & the plans were done 2 weeks later & were never shown to us. The sunroom was supposed to be done in the max. time of 16 weeks. It was not even started then. At that point he had how much money. Ed also ordered solid kick panels instead of glass ones & tried to say that is what we ordered. the one wall had to be redone 3 times & the other walls had to be done more than once also.

When all of these problems started we started to some investigating. Also, he hired people off the street that would not show up & when they did were either high or hungover. Ed never even checked if his people were here. Now, what we founf out was, Ed himself tried to pass the test for General Contractor license & failed multiple times. He uses his brothers, Fabians License no & a electrical contractor named Bill Brydges To pull the permit. Neither Fabian or Bill were ever at our home. Ed also had the room engineered wrong with the intent of being cheap. He brought a pitched roof under a flat roof & we have extreme amounts of water running into our house.

We were lucky in one aspect that we used a credit card & got reimbursed, but now Ed is sueing us. He is saying that Bill brydges did the electric which he did not, Ed did & also, is not saying who the people were that he had build this since they were not on his payroll & also were not licensed. We also have a electrical fire hazard. He buried regular household wiring in the base sill that lays in water.

To make it worse the coorporate office is just as bad & will not stand by this in anyway. We called fourseasons coorporate in Orlando & they came to our home. His name was Scott Weiner & Gus Concalves. They both stated that this room is a mess & should be torn done. They told us they would give us a estimate to repair & when it came time to give it to us they told us we had to sign a contract with them that if they help us win that they get the job. I told them I could not do that at this time due to the fact even if we win we will be out around 40, 000 in lawyers fees & that still does not mean that Ed or his Brother Fabian will not claim bankrupt & we will still be screwed, so they would not help us either.

Four Seasons coorporate told us that as long as they make money off the franchaises that is all that matters. If they really cared about their company & their reputation they would pull this 2 from their company.

So to sum it up, if anyone is considering these 2 to do busness with contact us & you can come see our mess of a "sunroom".

Rich Ridenour Hello Rich, I am a design consultant for the company. Just wanted to clarify our position in the matter of your requests for full refund Our contract clearly states above the signature line – you have three days ( Saturdays included) to cancel at anytime with no penalties. Not months. Days. The reason that we keep a percentage of your deposit is to pay for work that is in progress. Such as office fees, permitting processes, engineering drawings, etc. Also I wanted to confirm that the other company did the work in 5 days? (pulled a permit, trenched a footer + removed grass, ordered/poured concrete, installed electrical with inspections and added a screen room) All within one work week? That's very fast and must have been amazing to see Please contact the office with any questions you may have Thank you Distinct Design Inc.

This report is nothing but slander, name dropping and lies. It fails to mention we won the case and the project was fully furnished and used. It can be found online on a realty website. If anyone would like more information about this project or court case please contact our Ormond Beach office Thank You Distinct Design Inc.

My wife and I also contracted Distinct Design, Inc. to build a cement extension to our porch, add screen and electric for spa.   Mike Canaday was the sales rep and really wanted our job and seemed very informative/knowledgable.   Mike works on commission.   Engaging with this company was a nightmare for us too!

We we're a bit uncomfortable with the opened ended schedule for completion of jobs in Distinct Design's contract.  The way they state a typical sun room construction it gives them up to 32 weeks to complete.  Mike suggested they do the job in 4 weeks (because just a screen room) and we thought that fair and added that to the agreement:  "4 weeks job completion.  2 weeks electric installed."   We shook hands and Mike gave us confidence all would get done.

Well, nothing happened in 4 weeks.  Ed Arroyo did come out to look at our area but completely forgot permit papers.  Around week 3 permit papers arrived at our house and we returned express mail.  During this time we were calling and sending emails without response from Distinct Design to ask where are the workers.  We thought we were scammed.  Finally when I said I'd like to break the agreement in an email we got some attention.  Then we learned that permits weren't even filed.  We were very upset since we had tile workers flying in the following week and had taken scheduled time off from work to lay tile and do finishing work ourselves.

We lost all trust and contracted another company (that infact under bid Distinct Design), Advantage Enterprises in Jacksonville where we live and they did the work in 5 days.  We canceled the contract with Distinct Design and they have been very slow and stubborn to return our money for a job they failed to honor.   We have since taken them to small claims because they returned $2097 of our deposit of $4625 deposit.  For a failed agreement we think this an injustice.  Ed Arroyo knows every trick in the book to deter the case from going to trial which includes avoiding summons with the sheriff.    Recently Ed and Mike had a chance to testify their case in Jacksonville but requested change of venue.

Distinct Design is not customer friendly and have a contract that protects only themselves.  They will tell you what they can deliver but then fail and then lie about what was promised in court of law.   Consumers beware.
