My husband recieved a "free estimate" and paid $1,200 as a deposit in Juanuary 2014. By February, 2014, there had been 2 missed appointments from their workers to come out to the house and take measurements. Each time we were given very strange reasons why they could not show up to start the job.

We started to feel uneasy about working with these people and wrote them a letter in February asking for a full refund per the terms and conditions of the contract. The contract states that if requested in writing, refunds are guaranteed if no work was done.

Its now April, 2014 and we have yet to recieve our money back. The salesperson we initally spoke with sent us a text stating we should have recieved a certified letter. (We did not.) When we text back asking about the returned refund, we're told "Certified letter, no check."

contract clarification

Hello, I work for the company as a design consultant. I wanted to give some clarification on what must have happened here. All of our estimates are free. This is something we still offer. The only time we ask for a deposit is when we are ready to engage in a contract. As you must be ready also. The contract states, ( above the signature line) According to Florida law you the customer have 3 days - Saturdays included to cancel with no penalties. The contract also includes the terms explaining why the company may keep some of the money as a fee - money paid to an engineer to start working on a drawing, the office to start the permitting process. You canceled one month after the contract signing. Not within the 3 day window. I hope this brings some clarification to why the company has these terms on the contract. Thank you
