Distinctive Marketing Inc. DO NOT WORK HERE! Deceptive! Unknowlegeble! Internet
Disrinctive Marketing is a unique scamming experience to be part of. I applied online when I saw they were advertised as a Marketing firm. I got an email and call back the next day which should have been a red flag but I kept an open mind.
I went in for the interview and when I walked into the "office" there was no furniture, just some chairs and two small rooms so I became skeptical. I waited around and a guy came out and gave me a form to fill an then went back to his little office. He had the personality of a pebble and I instantly knew this was a huge mistake but kept an open mind still.
When I got to finally interview, he asked me some questions about my qualifictions and I could tell he had no interest but I went along with it. He pulled out a spiral notebook and started showing how the business works and talked fast and tried believe in the BS he was trying to sell me on. I put the pressure on him an knew he was useless and had no real idea of what they do. He was a pawn in the big pyramid scheme.
He told me id start out as an "account executive" which is hilarious sounding. He assured this wasn't door to door sales and said you work in the field 2 weeks and you'll become an account manager or something. Then He'd make me an assitant manager. Then a manager. How can this possibly happen so quickly.
The interview ended and he told me if they were interested they would call me in for a second interview. Okay... So I get my inevitable call and the same idiot brings me to best buy to have me watch him work. He said their "client" is direct tv and kept me in the dark about what business they actually conduct. I had seen enough and he told me the third interview would be their offer. At this point I wanted the third interview to call their BS.
I go into the third interview ready with questions to bombard the manager with. He tells me theres a 7.25 and hour wage and that i should strive for more than that. WHAT THE F**K AM I STRIVING TO DO?? These guys have told me nothing about what I would actually be doing. However id me making 435 a week doing it? And the earning potential is limitless! Give me a break. I had nothing to lose so I signed the papers and wanted to see what a day on the job would be like. Oh and He told me id have a copy of my contract and that was a lie.
Day one. I go to the office and theyre listening to music obnoxiously loud are acting like morons. Stellar group to work with. The "president" or whatever calls everyone in a circle and says some chant and tries to get everyone to repeat it. Then they tell me that my "job" is to sell direct tv subscriptions to people in best buy. So much for no door to door sales, this is the same thing.
I toughed out the week of ridiculous "training" and had guys who barely made it out of high school talk down to me about "how to make it in the biz" I just laughed. I went on my first day knowing what would be in store for me. I asked my partner or whatever some real questions and he told me the hourly wage is what you get if yoy dont sell anything them they take that out of your next sales so they always break even.
I asked partner guy if he thought that was shady but he was a lost cause ans was so brainwashed and delusional. All he could say was "im killin it bro" thats all i needed and i bowed out. Not worth the time.
In conclusion Distinctive Marketing is a scam and a pyramid scheme and the "employees" lose out. The office is a childish environment with stupid games and is the farthest from professional. The idiotic manager said "if youre here to sell direct tv youre in the wrong place. Youre here to own a business" brilliant. Oh and they antiqued one of the employees and they had contests and the loser would have to wear their tie up high and this is just the most unprofessional place hands down. DO NOT APPLY HERE.

Mistaken Identity
The complaint filed by your site is NOT against Distinctive Marketing, Inc. of Montclair, NJ. I am the owner of a medical marketing research company by the name of Distinctive Marketing, Inc. We are located in Montclair, NJ and have been in operation for 22 years with an unblemished record. There are several other companies operating under the same name. I know that one is in Massachusetts and they sell promotional items, one is in Maryland and they also sell items.
Apparently, there are other companies with the same name as Distinctive Marketing, Inc. also, but I am not sure what they do. Someone filed a complaint on August 12, 2012 against one of these companies by the same name as my company, Distinctive Marketing, Inc. This is absolutely not my company, however, my clients will not know this. This complaint can and will hurt my business. It does not tell the location of the company or the type of company that it is. Before you print accusations like this, you need to be specific about which company the complaint is against. Clarify this complaint immediately or speak with my attorneys.
