I am the Co founder/CEO of a digital record label who recently worked with Dittomusic. First, I would like you to know I am not doing this to be malicious what so ever. I have better things to do than waste my time reporting this. I will try to keep this short and sweet.

As of today (6.16.11) it remains to state on their website (dittomusic.com) that "Nearly all releases are going live on iTunes within 24 hours of sign up. When you upload your music it will arrive at the iTunes store within minutes. Recently iTunes releases have been going live within hours of
receipt. Quickest has been just 3 minutes.
" And for other stores they state "We deliver your music to the sites within 48 working hours. Sites like Medianet and Spotify are constantly ingesting a lot of content so it generally takes 4/5 weeks for us to get your content live." With this in mind we uploaded our music (3 artists) exactly 1 month and 5 days away from our projected release date expecting them to be avail on Itunes within a day or so. I sent them a email a couple days before the release asking if they needed anything from us and if things were going smoothly. No response. The release date comes around...and no releases. 1 day after nothing, 2 days, nothing, 3 days nothing...not even a email telling us they were late. 1 week later only 2 of the 3 artists we PAID for were up on Itunes.

The soonest Dittomusic has responded to our emails was 72 hours...sometimes it has taken, even a entire week. We understand they could be busy with other releases, but this is totally unacceptable after we have spent our money for their service. I finally decided to try and chat with someone on Skype regarding the issue...to my surprise I was able to get in touch with a anonymous person through their Skype account. I then, explained the issue of 1 of our artists not being available on Itunes and the fact we had put in many hours of promotion and took a loss from this. This person was very helpful and offered us a refund and a free release and directed me to contact "Jay" with Dittomusic regarding the refund and free release. He also made sure the missing release was up on Itunes.

After countless attempts to contact "Jay" (6 emails over a 2 week spand) regarding the refund, he finally responds and never even acknowledges the refund. He relays to me that Itunes had problems with the artwork. My question was...Why (2 weeks after the release date) were we notified about that and not when Itunes notified them? Surely Itunes would have notified them sooner than that right? So he "apologizes" and offers a free release. I asked "again" about the refund which his employee had given to us and his response was very shocking. He says to me "In regard to the refund, we agreed to refund you for your distribution however you have only paid for label set up and no distribution payments."

From that point on I knew these guys were very unprofessional because not only had I paid for label setup we also paid distribution payments for 3 artists and had receipts for them! After the confusion was cleared, he finally says "We will refund you $20 for the delay" after we had spent hundreds of dollars with them, and spent even more on promotions to have our releases out 1 week late...$20 is what we got as a refund. BEWARE

A release is sent out to all stores at the same time.  Some occasionally struggle to get releases live and we chase them as much as possible.  If we could change this we would - but we can't and no one can.

We have checked and can not find a delay involving working hours.  We are not open weekends and neither are stores.

Ditto Music also do not offer a Skype chat function, so this must have been another company.

The client purchased distribution and a record label service.  Despite it not being our fault the stores delayed, we (to help the client) offered a refund.  The record label service was fulfilled so was not eligible for a refund.  We appreciate that the client spent money on promotion and regret that a small amount of retailers have let him down.  Ditto Music lost money on this to help our client, so it was a genuine surprise to find this online.

Any info you need, tweet me direct: @ceomattparsons and i will be glad to help.

Dittomusic complaint...

I am the Co founder/CEO of a record label who recently worked
with Dittomusic. First, I would like you to know I am not doing this to
be malicious what so ever. I have better things to do than waste my time
reporting this. I will try to keep this short and sweet.

1st off I would like to say we decided to use Ditto Music because of their affordable digital store options and their turnaround policy currently on  their site. As of today (6.16.11) it remains to state on their website (dittomusic.com) that "Nearly all releases are going live on iTunes
