To whom It may concern,

DJ RonnieB is a Scam. Do not do Business with them. They will cheat you out of payment or send you a sub par and unskilled DJ to run your Event. The website is deceptive and shows DJ and Lighting that he can not guarantee. This company Sub contracts DJ's without any knowledge of their experience and sells them as if they are his trained professionals. They are based out of Chicago Illinois area, but they represent themselves as if they are local to you. DJ RonnieB books an event, takes payment in full up front, Calls or emails a local DJ in your area in a panic, begs them to cover the event, sends a contract (very official looking I might say), Promises payment is in the mail, They perform the event, then he Never pays the DJ company, instead, he quietly disappears, ignores your emails and never  ever contacts you again. A quick search of his name online turns up multiple complaints. DJ RonnieB offers no physical person to ever communicate with. You will always get an answering service when you call. Prior to your event you will have lots of email correspondence with him. As soon as the event is over you will see him drop off the face of the earth. In this age of Internet planning and booking, don't be deceived by an easy to use website. Their prices are very low for wedding and schools events, this is why he is able to suck so many in. Obviously this business plan can not remain sustainable. All things eventually catch up with you.  Please do Your research before using this company. Know what Your Getting and Getting into.

April 30th 2010 To Destination Events From Ron Beam
Hi-

I am in desperate need of a very last minute DJ for a High School Prom in Gold Beach. We are a national DJ company based out of Chicago and we normally have a DJ in that area of Oregon, however he just canceled on us last night due to an emergency and now we need this gig filled ASAP. We were hoping that you could please, please help us out. We only charged the client $400 for the prom, and we would be willing to loss any profit on it just so we can get it filled and make the client happy. I know it's a far drive for you, but if you could please help out with this that would be great!!! Let us know what kind of deal you could make us. Thanks!!

Ok that's fine, like I said I would rather get the event covered then upset the client. I've just emailed over a e-sign contract so you can get paid. The prom starts at 7pm and is at:

Event Center on the Beach-Fairgrounds
XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

The contact person is XXXXXXXXXXXXX and her number is XXXXXXXXXXXXX .

I've also attached a PDF of the music worksheet, basically it's just top 40 music.

Sound Great we will do it. How do we work out payment. I'm a little uncomfortable without a contract or money in hand. Can We be paid by you prior to the event. I can accept credit cards. We can do contract too if you like. Let me know. But We are good to go.

Thanks,

PS. Do we need to contact client? Is she expecting a contact or can we just show and do the event.  What time is set up? and How late is it scheduled?

Thanks,

Casey

Ok sorry, I didn't see the other email with the contract. I'm filling that out now. How do we do payment in this situation?

In answer to your other email, there's really no need to call the client unless you want to. The prom is supposed to start at 8pm and go until 11pm. I told them you would be there around 6 to setup just to play it safe. For payment I just mailed out a check to you. Let me know if you have any other questions, and Thank You very, very much for covering this at the last minute for me!!

Ok Sounds Great.. We will most likely arrive between 6 and 6:30. I noticed on the contract that I put the wrong zip code. It should be 97477.

Thanks. We will give the Gold Beach Kids a great time.

This is the last correspondence I have had with Ron. His email above stated that he "just put the check in the mail" on 4/30/10.

As of today (5/13/10) I have still not received payment from him. I sent the following correspondence to him on 5/11/10.

I'm following up on the event we performed for your company In Gold Beach Oregon 11 days ago. You mentioned that the check was in the mail to us on that Friday. I have seen no payment yet. Can you confirm that it was sent and the mailing address it was sent to.

Thank You,
Casey Westover

I also left a phone message on his cryptic answering service.

I have received no response to either. Today, I again Left a phone message and an email.

Today's email reads as Follows.

Ron,

I am a little confused why you have failed to return my emails and my phone calls. I have searched your company on line (should have done that before working with you) and found several complaints from other companies concerning your business practices. Now I'm very concerned that you are not going to pay us for the work we did. I have left 2 messages on your answering service and sent now 2 emails to you with no response.

I called Gold Beach High school to find out if they had paid and they said yes. I also asked them how our services were. They were beyond pleased and would like "Us" next year.

I have fulfilled my end of this obligation and am waiting for payment now. I was told that "the check is in the mail" prior to the event. I should have long since received it by now.

I am placing faith in you at this moment that you will follow through with the contract.

I would appreciate contact of any kind. I believe you to be a professional company that will honor your word and your contract.

Please email me to let me know the check number and the date that it is put in the mail.

I also would like to forewarn you that I will utilize all email correspondence between us, your online contract, and any online complaints or fraud reports against your company should I need to pursue this matter legally.

Thank you in advance for your quick response,

To my surprise I received a phone call from Ron Beam today. Though I must confess I'm not sure he meant to call me. You see after I sent him the last email above I called his answering service and left a short message that simply said. I'm hoping to chat with you, please call me back.. and left my number. I believe that he thought he was calling a potential client back because  when I answered the phone he was completely caught off guard when I said "Hello this is Casey" and said... "Oh um .. uh this is Casey?".. I chatted with him cordially letting him know I was disappointed in not having received payment yet. He assured me that it is on the way. In fact said I should have received it within 10 days of the event. I asked him If he put it in the mail on the Friday before as he had told me in the email, and he said "well no.. we have a payroll service that handles that for us." I pushed to find out when it was mailed or would be mailed and he said he would call me back within in an hour with the check number and the day it was mailed. Alas that was 5 hours ago now. I may be a little bit nit picky on this, and perhaps I should allow a few more days for the check to show, but Over all I'm just not impressed with the way this whole thing is being handled.  I'm still up in the air on whether this is a scam or not. He also promised me he would overnight the check to me if needed  to which I said, That would be great. Since he has not called me back I assume that has not happened either. Lastly I asked for another number to reach him as I do not like being sent to the answering service every time I call. He said "No this is the only line we have"
I hate to resort to Filing on line complaints but it is clear this company has a problem fulfilling its obligations. They fail even to have the professionalism to call or email back a contractor. Un less this matter is remedied soon, I will be posting this same  posting on several other complaint sites as well as the national wedding and disc jockey  referral services that Ron Beam uses, and the many DJ forums in the industry to forewarn other DJ's of his deceptive tactics. Furthermore, I will be seeking legal remedies as well.

I am saddened that it has come to this. The DJ community use to be one of trust and friendship and helping out a friend in a pinch. I am saddened that large unprofessional companies have cheapened the industries standards to a point of distrust and fraudulent communication.

Ron,

I believe I am being very cordial about all of this. I am concerned however that you promised to call me back with the specific information on my payment within 1 Hour and I have yet to hear from you. I do not mean to be a jerk about this. But you have to admit that the online complaints about your company are pretty compelling. I understand. I own a large company, I employ many individuals, I get that sometimes unwarranted complaints come in. I do not give credence to all of them, nor should you. It is part of doing business. However I am disappointed in the way you have chosen to handle this matter. Your lack of clear communication with real answers is just unprofessional. I am giving you the opportunity to restore faith in you and your business practices. Please respond to me by way of Email or phone call detailing exactly how and when I will be paid (I would prefer a credit card quite honestly).

My address to overnight the check to is

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

If you have not communicated with me by tomorrow in someway explaining when I will receive my payment, I will have no choice but to begin legal action and reporting your company for not fulfilling your contract. I will begin by contacting any and all complaint and fraud report sites, BBB, and The Illinois Secretary of State.
Again, I am hopeful you will prove me wrong, please restore my faith in the decency of others.

I have not heard anything from Dj Ronnie B. As I had assumed was the case, I don't believe their will be any future contact between us. I will begin my legal action. If I do receive payment I will amend this complaint with updates as of right now It is not looking very hopeful, and legal action will be perused.
