My issue is in regards to paying registration fees and receiving no tag therefore, getting cited over and over again by police and parking Bureau for expired tags. My registration was due in August, I paid it in September, mailed application to retire my vehicle due to it not passing smog. Now being December I still have not heard back from the BAR program through the DMV and therefore my vehicle sits with expired tags. DMV does not seem to care one way or another about consumers issues concerning our vehicles. DMV seems to omly care about raking in the money and decides to link their system in with the parking Bureau.

This prevents consumers to receiving tags. If the parking citations are not paid then you don't get your tag. Its a parking ticket, separate from registration fees. So if my registration fees are paid but car didnt pass smog I dont receive a tag and therefore get citations which then lead to towing yard fees, then late fees on citations, looks like I've become the victim. I can't take care of my original problem, the smog, but now dealing with a problem created by the DMV. So who prevented and who is at fault for causing all of this drama? All Because a citation was issued. I paid for something and did not receive the goods.

Additiion to it, my vehicle is being penalized and charged with a fee because it ddnt pass smog. Give a person a break. This is ridiculous and totally contradicts the whole point. Our money is being stolen right from under us and seems as though "we let them" do it. We need to stop it now. Something changed and we are suffering from it. The DMV can issue the red month tag that sticks on rear windowshield then if they can't hand over something that I bought and paid for with cash. Who are these people in gov. Positions acting like this and creating some lives to become miserable as we watch them take our property. Abusing authority Will stop.!!!!

The reason you are having all of this "drama" is because of your actions.

First you paid your registration a month late...that alone could cost you extra fees and any ticket you got because of that won't get reversed.  But another part of registration is the requirement to pass "smog".  Your car failed to do that so it is not legal to drive.  It can not be parked or driven on public streets, and if you are truly trying to "retire" the vehicle the first step in that is to STOP driving it.

As for the temporary registration.  Yes they could issue you a Temporary one, but they issue those to allow people to drive their vehicle to get repaired or moved to a new location.  They aren't going to just give you one for a month to "give you a break".

As for the retirement program, did you meet all of the qualifications?
