My 18 year old son was walking out of the local Toys-R-Us and a couple of guys in a green Explorer asked him if he'd like to save a thousand bucks on some speakers. They tried to sell him a couple of DOGG SL-1100 speakers for 500$ each. Each box had $1495.00 price printed right on it and the culprits had a "receipt" to show for them. The story was that the workers at Circuit City loaded too many speakers on their truck by mistake. My son was tempted, but didn't have that much money, only $200.

Well, for $200 dollars, they were "kind" enough to sell him just one of the speakers and gave him a phone number where he could be reached when he had the money for the mate. Naturally, we checked it all out online when he got home. He was really hit hard when he saw all the reports of other scams. Of course the phone number is a fake, and he is stuck with one mediocre $200 speaker. The police weren't interested, they say these guys often have permits and are around every summer. At least he learned a valuable lesson for less than some of us:
Buyer Beware!
