Complaint Review: Dogtired Ranch

I had a puppy transported to me on January 3rd 2015 from Dogtired Ranch. She was supposed to be "the picture of health", she died three days later from Parvo. I was able to get Janet Dodson on the phone on the second day and immediately she went into "well that dog was the picture of health when she left here", again she was dead within 72 hours of her arrival. After that she immediately went on to state "I will help you pay as much as I can, but our van broke down and that was $1500, and we are just broke right now but I will do what I can eventually". It is not and never was about the money, this woman should be held responsible for breaking the numerous that she did. Come to find out legally I should have received an interstate health certificate with the dog, which I did not. When I asked Ms. Dodson she told me since the dog was picked up at their drop off location in CT that only CT residents were entitled to this???? I ended up requesting a certificate from the transport company, my vet received one certificate so I don't know if it was from Ms. Dodson or the transport company (my guess is the transport company). The puppy was picked in CT because, again come to find out, MA (where I am from) has a 48 hour quarantine law. So if the puppy was transported to MA she would have to had to have been quarantined in a state facility for 48 hours, this is why they drop the dogs off as close to the border as they can get. While I was doing everything I could to save the puppy, bolusing her with IV fluids every 3 hours, getting her a plasma transfusion..... I was in contact with Ms. Dodson. She continued to insist that my vet just did not know how to treat the parvo, although she was given steroids, antibiotics, medication to calm her stomach, and they even gave me the IV fluids to hydrate her at home myself. During one of our conversations Ms. Dodson informed me that she had contacted "everyone" who could have come in contact with the dog to notify them. Yet, when I contacted the transport company for the certificate after the puppy had passed they said they never heard from Ms. Dodson. I also brought it to Ms. Dodson's attention that the puppy had been listed as being in Great Barrington, MA on Petfinder and it wasn't until we spoke on the phone prior to adoption that I found out she was actualy down south (my bad, I should have known something was up right then). Ms. Dodson replied that she has someone who is willing to foster her dogs there, and she is allowed to post the dogs as being wherever she has a foster available. I also recall speaking to Ms. Dodson prior to the adoption and becoming emotional because I was informing her of my dog that had just passed and that I missed being a mommy. During one of our text exchanges after the puppy died (yes I was very uspet and said I'm going to shut you down B****, not smart on my behalf but I was so angry) Ms. Dodson replied "why are you being so vindictive, obviously you're not a mother". This woman is all about making money, she will be the first one to point out "we have saved 1700 (or 1800, the number changes) lives", but obviously that is not what she is about. I have reported Dogtired ranch to the United States Humane Society, will be repoting her to the BBB (if possible), and am currently working with the MADEM to have Dogtired Ranch investigated and hopefully shut down.
